Freelancers Unite

Freelance Switch has a good point. What are other freelancers doing, charging and thinking? It’s something we all wonder about.

They’ve created a survey all freelancers should take regarding our habits, earnings and reasons for doing what we do.  The survey aims to “compile our collective knowledge for the benefit of freelancers everywhere.”

I took the survey, it doesn’t take much time at all. PLUS you can win some cool prizes!

    Deborah,

I’m a new writer to freelance writing jobs. As I was looking through some of the freelance offers, there were some acronyms I did not really get such as TBD, SEO, etc. Is it possible that you help me out a little here? Would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Deb gets a lot of e-mail/comments to respond to, so I thought I’d pop in and answer you in the comments. Hope you don’t mind, Deb!

TBD is “to be determined.” TBD is usually listed when compensation will depend on one or more factors. For example, a project’s compensation may be TBD based on experience.

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In really simple terms, search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of techniques that Web site owners use to get their sites ranked better in the search engines. SEO writing often involves writing an article or blog post around a certain keyword or phrase. SEO writers may also write meta tag descriptions, do link building, etc.

    Hope this helped you!

I took the freelance writing survey and was blown away. Some of the questions they asked left me with a big question mark hanging over my head! I guess I still have a lot to learn.

Rock On...
