Thanks for the leads Deb! Hard-working as usual
BTW, can anybody help me? I’m in dire need of a template contract. A new client is asking for one. I’m used to being given the contract and not the other way around :p
Mariella,
Send me an e-mail through my site (www.redinkpublishing.net) and I’ll forward a sample contract to you. It’s not elaborate but maybe it will help you get started. Thanks.
LaShaun
Thank you so much, LaShaun! You got mail.
Good morning all,
I just recieved a response from one of the queries I did. Positive response. I have been down in the dumps lately with the not getting paid from a client and scrambling to find other oppurtunities. Perservance is my word for the day!
Congrats, Micah!!! You got a deadbeat? I got one too last week. Well, not exactly. It’s more like the client disappeared completely. It’s a good thing I tried contacting him first before sending the articles. At least I can sell these elsewhere. But it’s really too bad, this is a $500 job. I don’t exactly know where to sell them too…
Thank Mariella! Yes a definite deadbeat for one. It’s already on the web too. Good thinking about contacting them first. The way I handled this last one was I sent one and said I would like payment for that one, and that I would send the second after getting payment. No payment. So at least I didn’t have double work for no money. Thanks to this forum! It’s disheartening that some people are like that. I hope you can find where to sell your stuff…if I can help let me know.
I have started submitting to an online directory also. That is one way to make sure MY stuff is MY stuff.
Hi Micah,
Did you take steps for your unpaid article to be removed?
Hey Mariella,
I e-mailed the website to let them know it was considered stolen because the person did not pay for it.
That’s great! Do you have a proof of copyright? Like a dated file which could prove that you do indeed own the article? You know, just in case they ask you for proof.
No…how do I do that Mariella? That’s why I started submitting to an online directory also. Proof of time and article.
Micah>> I just wrote on article on how to create proof of copyright/ownership in case situations like these arise. I’ll post the link here tomorrow when it’s up and running. Or you could email me if you like.
Indeed, no response is frustrating. And extremely rude, I think. But there are also very nice souls out there who really make the effort to reply. One of my favorites:
“Thank you for your query. Unfortunately, our company is not yet that global to hire writers overseas.” This type of rejection I’ll take any day in exchange for golden silence.
