I was thinking about Thanksgiving today. Not necessarily about turkey and mashed potatoes, but more about how each year life gets better and better. I don’t want to bore you too much, but here are a few things I’m thankful for this year. (Don’t worry, they’re (mostly) all on topic)
I’m thankful I can do what I love every day. I get to wake up, get dressed (or not), walk five feet to my home office and write about topics I love.
I’m thankful I no longer have weekly team meetings. The memories still traumatize.
I’m thankful for my high speed Internet connection. It’s been years since I had *cough*dialup*cough* but thank goodness we upgraded. I can’t see doing what I have to do with my AOL account.
I’m thankful for the Freelance Writing Jobs community. I don’t want to gush, but you guys make it a pleasure. There’s no where else I’d rather be.
I’m thankful for my two kittens keeping me company during the day when no one is home. If I always worked with cats instead of people, I might still be sitting in a cube.
I’m thankful my clients like me so much they continue to find ways for us to work together.
I’m thankful for the mail lady because she brings lovely, lovely checks to my mailbox.
I’m thankful for Starbucks, particularly the White Chocolate Mocha.
I’m thankful for David Beckham.
I’m thankful I no longer have to take a subway commute every day but
I’m thankful for the blogosphere. The first place where I truly felt like I fit in.
Once again, I’m thankful for the Freelance Writing Jobs community. Thank you all for making 2007 such a great year
So tell me, why are you thankful?
In thanks, I’m going to do my end of the year blog plug again. Any of my regulars who want to indulge in a little shameless self promotion, send links to your blogs to deborahng@gmail.com with “Blog Plug” in the subject line and I’ll include you in my annual list of link love for my regulars.
Also, I finally succumbed to Twitter. Anyone with an account can find me at debng – let me know where to find you.
Have a great day,
Deb

I’m thankful for my kids. They’re the reason I started writing (professionally) and have been key to my motivation.

It’s so easy to get lost. I’m still struggling to make this writing thing work, it’s hard to keep disciplined, and it’s even harder to stay positive.
But then I remember how thankful I am…
to have a shot at my dreams
to have a husband who loves me and believes in me
to have words to comfort me
and friends to distract me.
THANKS!

I didn’t include my family in this post, because I felt it should go without saying but of course they the number one reason I’m thankful.

I’m also thankful for David Beckham, but after watching Love in the Time of Cholera, I’m becoming more thankful for Benjamin Bratt every day

And spell-check. Which I didn’t use and thus spelled “including” as “inlcuing”.

I’m thankful for my family. I’m thankful that I have finally learned to be comfortable in my own skin. I’m thankful that of all the things I’ve given up due to disability, I haven’t had to give up writing. I’m thankful for this blog, tho the only job I’ve gotten was Laray Carr. That’s o.k. Eventually, my turn will come. I’m thankful for my own blog.

I’m thankful for friends who also happen to computer whizes, boyfriends who contribute the “male perspective” to my dating articles, and coffeeshops that offer free wifi.

A good friend of mine died of breast cancer last week at the age of 35, so I’m feeling especially thankful for my husband and daughter and family and my health. I’m thankful that we have a refrigerator full of food and a warm house and two snuggly kitties.
I’m grateful that I don’t have to be a professor anymore and that my new writing career is off to a pretty good start… not nearly as good as I’d like, of course, but I’m building momentum and am always optimistic. I’m thankful that I’m going to be getting a wireless laptop this year for the holidays.
