I have a question for all you wise writers! I applied for a blogging position for sports teams. They want me to write for them and pay $3 a blog post. It is not great money, but it is easy to write about my team.
The problem I have is that they want to prepay for 6 posts to my paypal address. Is this normal? Should I go ahead and give out my paypal address or would you be worried?
Thank you all for help!
Amy–
While it’s not unusual for a client to prepay some or half of the contracted amount (usually on a large job), I wouldn’t necessarily worry about the paypal thing. If you’re not comfortable giving out your regular paypal address for this, you can set up another paypal address (just a different e-mail address). But, they don’t have access to your account, if that’s what concerns you.
Don’t worry at all about giving out your paypal address. That’s how at least half of my clients pay me. They need it to send you your money. Now if they asked for your password…that would be a reason to worry
Deb, I am having trouble with accessing the site recently. It keeps saying operation aborded. I would appreciate it if you check this out. Many thanks.
Amy,
I signed up for the same blog and also received the up-front $18.00. I did the first two blogs last night, which is legit and can be read at http://www.cincinnatibengalsnews.com. I agree it’s not great money, but it takes about ten minutes to whip out a blog on my Bengals so, easy three bucks.
