I just came here to post that exact same question. I have applied two or three times to be an About guide (all on topics I am extremely qualified to write about) and never got so much as a confirmation. I added their address to my white list and everything and still have gotten nothing.

I have only gotten emails from the AFTER the position was filled – with some other lucky writer… I guess that means they aren’t really sending out confirmations.

Anjeeta: I’ve had that problem too! I applied back in mid-December to About.com, and never received the mysterious confirmation e-mail they said would be coming. I’ve checked my spam filters on both the accounts I gave every single day, and nothing. Plus, the listing I applied for has been removed from the open positions list!

Oh, hey, my first post here. I’m a newcomer to the site as of a few weeks ago, but never had anything to contribute before. This place is wonderful!

Hi,
Has anyone applied to About.com to be a guide for some of the jobs listed here? if so did you get a confirmation that your application is in the system? I have applied thrice to one of the available guide gigs but never seem to get a confirmation that the application has been accepted in the system. Has anybody else faced this?
