Jodie,
I would LOVE it if you wrote a blog/example of a good query letter for freelance writing gigs. I have tons of info for magazine writing, but none for one-time deals. Thanks!
Sorry! Jodee*
That would be great!
Just a note about “Writer – Telecommute” It is an answering machine type of thing and you’ll need to leave a message. Keep in mind when you call because it is Mountain Time (Denver)

Today, Internet Explorer keeps wanting to kick me off this website. Says there is an error, cannot do this-or-that. This has never happened to me before, either on this site or others. Not happening to anything else I open right now. Something goofy with the website today??
I’m getting a strange error message, too…
Kristin King has a good example on her blog of a general query letter she sends in response to Craigslist ads or similar. I haven’t quite gotten up the courage to write one as ebullient and confident as hers for myself yet.
I would love to see this topic discussed here, too.
I looked for the query letter on Kristin’s blog just now, and I’m not sure where you are finding her example. Can you tell us the title of the post? Thanks!
Hi! I have a random question/comment. I applied to one of the freelancing jobs posted last week on here on Wednesday from Craigslist. The internet site is called morefocus.com, and I had to write a sample article for them. They liked it and gave me a W9 form to fill out, and then I’ll write for them. I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this site at all or is applying with them? I just want to see if they’re ok to work with before I send my information in.
Hi Tisha
No, I haven’t personally dealt with them. May be you ought to do a Google search on the company. I think you should use your own good judgment on whether it would be wise sending in personal information.
All the best.
About the error messages some are getting: I browse with Mozilla Firefox and everything has been fine. It could be a browser error or something? I HIGHLY recommend downloading Firefox – it’s shareware (free) and is a lot more secure than IE. I’m constantly promoting Firefox, b/c it keeps the computer safer
