High School Flashcard Writer or Editor

Necessary Skills:

Have proven strong teaching ability in English, biology, chemistry, or physics at the high school level.  Either be teaching these subjects now or recently.  Requires a strong aptitude for teaching, working with words, including spelling and grammar, comprehension of written  material, and the ability to follow instructions.  If you write flashcards, you will need to make diagrams using a drawing program which we can supply.  Editors do not require drawing skills.  You can telecommute from anyplace in the world.

Organization Description

Free World University, a 501(c)3 publicly supported nonprofit organization, is building the first Internet University.  It is freely available to everyone in the world.  We are beginning with grades pre-K through 12.  Our goal is to develop over 500,000 web-based flash cards and to incorporate word derivations and mnemonics for maximum ease of learning and retention.  As you are aware, teachers today are forced to "teach to the test."  They often find this demoralizing and understandably so.  Yet standardized testing is a fact of life.  We see the solution as our web interface flashcard training program which will do this more efficiently and at no cost to student or teacher.  This will free the teacher up to be a discussion leader and teach in the style that is more suited to his or her personality.

Job Description

Your job will be to write or edit flashcards in the form of simple questions and answers.  You can work from home and set your own hours and amount of time that you put in.  You would be an independent contractor.  There is a flashcard training program as well as a web interface authoring tool on the website.  Click on New Authors Start Here from the homepage to learn about how flashcards are written, our payment schedule, and other details about our program.  Download the flashcard writing summary and send us 10 flashcards on any subject in the body of an e-mail as a measure of aptitude.  You can visit our website and see what has already been accomplished.
