The “writing position – telecommute” listing has a bad address.
Love all the editorial opportunities today! Thanks, Jodee!
Love this site!! I check it everyday and have gotten some really great leads from it. Keep up the great work and thank you!!
@ Christina and Bill: You are most welcome!
Thank you a hundred times for taking the time to do this. Back when I started, I felt like I was turning in circles.
Just a comment; I’m a tech writer and I’ve noticed that most positions are on-site…I’ve always thought that was rather amusing. You’d think, of any genre, we’d be most likely to reap the rewards of technology!
Deb – Any insight on LifeWire? I see that some “LifeWire Writers” have bios/articles on some About.com sites – which is news to me. I thought only About.com guides wrote for their own sites (though I think I may have seen some “guest posts” too).
I guess I just don’t get it.
@Kara – I never heard of Life Wire it might be a new venture from About.com/The New York Times Company?
As far as I understand it, Life Wire writers are paid to write freelance articles on About.com sites.
Just a heads-up about LifeWire: It’s been advertising for the same copy/line editor positions on and off for several months.
Since there are typically dozens, if not hundreds, of applicants for off-site editing positions, this makes me wonder about the viability of the startup and/or its staff turnover. It doesn’t seem to have its act together at this point.
You guys, I just sent off a handful of responses to job listing this last hour. I had ordered some editing software that can do more than just what Word.doc does. It came in the mail shortly after I sent all of these things off, and I quickly installed it.
When I used my “writing samples” document as my first test of the software, I was horrified to find that my so-called cherry picked articles from my collection had no less than four errors each – including “right of passage.” Ugh! I want to suck up those emails and send each recepient an apology. I’d spouted on about how thoroughly I check my work, too. ;(
I’m just going to pray and look for more leads tomorrow!
@Jodee and @ Deb
Thank you again for this site and the leads.
@ Erika K: I had to look at “right of passage” a couple of times – it looked all right to me, LOL! I guess I need to either drink more coffee or get some more sleep.
@ Jenny B: You are most welcome.
I can only hope that the potential employers who read over my writing samples do it at 3am with no coffee! LOL!
Hi Jodee!
This is Solomon! I’m a copywriter with over 10 yrs. of experience and I’m looking for some frealnce work. Can you pls. tell me how to go about with these postings here for a copywriter? I’ll be grateful for your kind help! Do I need to register or a have a blog(it’s coming soon), or send some write-ups?
Regards
Solomon
Hi Solomon,
If you click on the links on the list, you will be taken to the job postings. You apply in the manner the employer specifies in the ad.
Hi guys –
I’m removing the Workforce Management link as they wrote to me that they’re not hiring.
Thanks
Erika K: What is the name of the editing software that you installed (and are obviously so pleased with?)
there is a misspelling at the very top of this page: in the box where it has the link for http://www.suite101.com – It says Freelance “Wrirting” Jobs. Thought you might want to correct (sorry – my editing background kicked in!)
