Kristen & Jodee – I think that is a “touchy” area – technically, I dont think it is legal – I know that age discrimination is illegal. Im not a legal expert though.

@ Kristen: Here (in Canada) you can, as long as what you are specifying is a bona fide job requirement. So minimum height requirements for flight attendants are legal, and if you want to be a police officer, you are required to have a certain level of uncorrected vision. If a Christian organization is hiring staff, they might be able to argue that a fellow Christian would be best suited to the job.

Here’s kind of an idle question: Is it legal to specify a particular characteristic for the person you’re hiring? Educated, skilled, qualified, sure. But Christian, female (hot or otherwise), over 40? I know in real estate you can’t do that…

The “Copywriter Wanted for Internet Articles” job appears to be an attempt to harvest email addresses and market an e-course. I sent an email to the address listed and got a Yahoo! auto response back:

Hey Internet Marketer!

If you’ve purchased numerous marketing
courses, then you’ll love this email.

Even if you haven’t, I’m about to save you a

@Jodee. Actually I did ask him. As it turned out, they wanted photos to post on the “staff page.” So that was fine, but they could have written that to start with.

I had my laughs over lamborghini guy too! I’m betting it is a teen looking for porn cause mom/dad took away his stash. He’s probably sitting around the library computer checking emails having a good laugh with his buddies. I know my son says the schools rarely catch things in email.

I’ve also had an employer that asked for a photo. Glad I’m not alone in thinking it’s a little strange!

I didn’t take that one as being creepy, and that wasn’t my intention when I posted it. I have seen a lot creepier (is that a word?) ads in my online travels – like ones where the employer wants you to send in a photo with your application. (Those are the ones you guys never get to see.)
