Love the “careful you may wind up in my novel” shirt. I want it bad. I will show it to my husband, because I don’t have a good excuse to get it otherwise. My husband likes “practical” gifts. Oh, I tried romantic to no avail. Practical? Okay, I will teach you a lesson. I bought him some cassarole dishes. We still use them. Yes, they are practical.

I think it’s a matter of personal taste and what we like as individuals. I’d be disappointed if my husband bought me jewelry since I never wear the stuff, but I like refinishing furniture so if he bought me a fancy palm sander, I’d be thrilled!

My husband is hit or miss. He tries really hard though so I can’t get too upset with him and usually he gets me some nice things. One year he bought me some journals and a really nice pen set, not the cheap 5 for 3.00 pens that I usually use. When it comes to CD’s he tends to buy me ones that we both like so he can “borrow” them. I bug him about that from time to time and then he will buy me something he says he hates and ends up “borrowing” them anyways. This christmas he went and bought me something that has been sitting on my list for 3 years now. A punching bag! Yes, I know, my lists are a little off but what can I say, I’m me.

I like those. My boyfriend, upon opening his Christmas gift (he got me a gift card… but I like presents, so I went a little over the top), said, “Oh no! Valentine’s Day is coming up! I don’t know what to get you… all I know… all I can think of is chocolate and roses. Is that okay, or should I ask my sister?”

@Phil – for some it would be. But if anyone really wanted to get me a present – I’d like the character Monk for a weekend.

Monk would go nuts in my house – the clutter would give him fits and by the end of the weekend, boy would my house look fantastic!

I have to say, my husband bought me a Pur water filter one year for Mother’s Day, but it is the most used appliance in my house. It’s not only a water filtration unit, but an actual water cooler so we have hot, room temp. or ice cold water at the touch of a button and I don’t have to buy the giant water jugs for it – it is filled straight from our faucet.
