I tried your advice and it takes me to one of those pages that says, “This web page cannot be displayed.”

Also, I have to believe that the majority of people who flag an ad because they think it’s illegit are flagging out of anger or frustration, maybe because they were turned down, told they didn’t have the experience or the right writing skill, etc., versus the payment cited was wrong or the advertiser refused to correct a misleading payment typo. There are a lot of self-righteous people out there who think they can speak for everyone else. It is NOT their job to take an ad away from another applicant for ANY reason. If you think the pay is too low, maybe someone else will take that pay. So if you are a flagger, please, just leave the ads alone.

Here’s some info on MetroMix. I did some work for them in a different city (earlier this year)and the rate is very low, with the carrot of “possible features in the future.” They paid $5 for each blurb, plus another $5 if you filled out an extensive form regarding the venue’s hours, payment methods, etc. 25 reviews were expected each week, and they don’t reimburse you for expenses. Unless they’ve changed their structure, it’s very time-consuming and not very lucrative. Best of luck!

To anyone trying to get rid of the writing competition so that they can keep the plum jobs for themselves I say “nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah.”

As for the Writer/Researcher job – I have seen that one posted every couple of months or so on Craiglist.

I think my main beef with the issue is that I wonder how many flags it takes to get an ad removed, and perhaps the number of flags before deletion needs to be upped a bit. Or perhaps have a space to write a reason why something was flagged.

CL must be making a decent amount of money from their paid ads; surely they could afford to hire a few people to look over the ads that are flagged in the jobs area. (Yes, it would be a mundane job, but some people like that.) Somehow I just don’t see ads being flagged for no reason in places other than the job-search area.

Who knows? Anyway, what goes around comes around, so if people are flagging perfectly good jobs, it’ll bite them in the back eventually. At least we can hope.

Anything like CL is set up to have as little human involvement as possible, so they’re not going to have the manpower to review flagged items. Remember, we’re looking at only our small universe, CL lists much more than writing jobs.

Also, it could have been flagged for legit reasons, though the rate was higher than most, so suspicion is certainly warranted.

On the bright side, there are higher paying opportunities out there, but it takes a lot of diligence to find them.

I wish CL would at least take a look at an ad after it’s been flagged a certain number of times. Then they could determine whether they deemed it flag-worthy or not.

It’s not fair that random people can flag a message to the point it gets deleted, with no one “at the top” looking it over before it’s deleted from CL entirely.

That’s really silly, in my opinion. If CL can’t take the time to look over every single post because they’re free, then they can at least look over an ad that’s been flagged, before deleting it.

That will send all the information in the entire ad.
