@Erricka: I’ve had similar problems trying to flag scammy CL posts. I also once got a message that said something like “Thanks for flagging. Don’t worry if you flagged by mistake — it takes several for an ad to be removed.” I wonder if their platform and flagging protocols might differ just a little bit depending on the city.

The nutrition health writer ad is still running on CL. Lisa said she flagged it, so it must be running under a slightly different reply-e-mail address. Here is the site it’s running under, and it’s number 43 on the gig list:

I didn’t flag it because for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to flag an ad. Where it says “prohibited” in the upper right corner, when I click on that, nothing happens. It’s not even clickable. When I click on “Flag with care,” it takes me to some basic info, but nothing to click on to flag the ad.

Does anyone know if the person who places a CL ad ever learns that the ad has been flagged?

@Paul and Erricka, I thought it was just me with the non-response to ads. Seriously, I only apply for gigs I feel qualified for, never correct typos in ads, do exactly what the ads ask for…and I never hear a thing in a large number of cases, which is very frustrating.

I only peruse CL through the links here and for my hometown, but I’ve had to start seeking jobs elsewhere.

I sent an email to the health and nutrition ad when it was a comcast address as well but didn’t get any response.

Regarding the number of ads we apply to and never hear anything back from… I guess I see that as the nature of jobhunting.

I can’t figure out how to flag the health/nutrition writer ad. What do you click on the page with the ad ?

This is the only instance in which I think an ad should be flagged. But as long as the flagging system is there, it will continue to be abused.

The strange this is, that nutrition newsletter ad was posted a few days ago, but the reply-to email address was your healthynews at comcast dot net. I sent them an email but heard nothing, and I have lots of nutrition writing and NL experience.

I got the same e-mail from “Stella” that you did. Grrrrrr! This stuff gives CL a bad name. Did you flag it with them?
