Just an FYI to all on her — the LOOKING FOR OVERFLOW WRITERS position on here ISN’T from me nor have I put out an ad recently. If it is, it isn’t me. I have had spamming problems lately and someone else took my email address with hotmail, mine has a period, theirs does not, so there has been MASS confusion.

The only person I have worked with prior on the list of people commenting is ERIKA, not Anna, SL or SI as it says or anyone else. And I do not work with a guy, I’m alone, which furthers extend the confusion on this matter.

In regards to the attitude, one thing I hate about online communication is that things are misinterpreted and I’m sure if I would have talked to you on the phone you would feel otherwise. I also use Caps TO emphasize portions because sometimes the plain text portion of my email client (Which includes bolding) fails me, and something extremely important is missed, which is why I do caps enough. Not intended to yelling, etc.

Just wanted to respond here becuase one of my writers informed me of the post, I won’t be replying again, but wanted to clear that up.

Looks like I may get stiffed on that project – not sure yet. Dissatisfied with my work, I guess…

Wow! Well, I do not like ignoring emails, but what good does it do to respond. I went to her site and seems she does a lot of PLR too. Even that pays at least $10 an article…sad, so sad.

Of course I received the same ‘form’ email from her. I wasn’t sure if I should respond or just ignore it?

Best price for 300 words? Well, it really depends on the topics and how much I need to research. But I am not going to go through the trouble ( with attitude and personalities) for only $10 or $15 bucks.

Wow, I’m glad I said something here about Overflow Writers. I was worried that was “bad form” or something. But it seems it has helped some people out. Thanks to others chiming in.

It helps me resolve the whole experience for myself, too. Lots of missed sleep, stress, and now I’m sick. Probably not a coincidene.

You guys are great!

@Ann G – Congrats on the much better gig! Obviously, there’s no need to put up with garbage like the Overflow Writer ad.

I’d applied too and got that same response – send your lowest possible rate. I responded telling her that I’d heard distrubing stories about her work ethics and was definitely not interested.

Meanwhile, another possibility contacted me and offered a really great rate, so it all works out.

@Elle–I second your advice to others, for the record. Grant pay terms should always be separate. People keep in mind–if you are paid from grant proceeds (which isn’t really legal like Elle said) and the group doesn’t get the grant, where will your paycheck come from? It won’t! And with stiff grant competition, even the best grant stands a good chsnce of not being chosen for funding!

Is a grant gig that pays a percentage of the grant if awarded (which is kind of illegal, and definitely frowned upon)technically considered a paying gig? As a grant writer I’d just advise anyone to be really careful with those kinds of posts.

@Jenny – I’ll sit in the corner and commiserate about the weather and lack of spring. It snowed here in northeastern Vermont last week – 16 inches, followed by 40 degrees and rain on Tuesday night that led to freezing rain on Wednesday that cancelled school. Today was 40 again and sunny, but started tomorrow night they say more snow and freezing rain all through Saturday night. Then a Canadian cold front is moving in again and we can expect temps of 5 below zero for lows. At this point, I’m miserably sick of winter.

We’re in Nebraska, so we might get a little spring before you do. My 8 yr old daughter said it was March, so why isn’t it like spring yet? I said, that really didn’t happen so much until late March or April.

February was just a week ago. If we lived in Texas or Georgia, maybe. Not here yet, honey. Sorry

But we could get a tornado in a few weeks if we’re lucky (???) Stranger things have happened.

@Erika Spring! I think I remeber what spring looks like. Ottawa is supposed to get another huge dump of snow on Saturday and then more by Tuesday. Poor little flowers won’t see the sun until August at this rate!

I too worked for that lady. She is very rude and didn’t pay me for the last assignments I did for her. It’s her and a guy, sending out work and paying pennies on the dollar. I was just starting out, so I didn’t know how much writing was worth. I wouldn’t recommend anyone working with her. She’s rude and a little young to be so judgemental and arrogant. Unprofessional indeed.

I would like to second the comments made by Erika Krull. I also worked with the employer listed in the “Looking for Overflow Writers” post and my experience was also rather negative. This is just how my experience went — perhaps others had a more pleasant working environment with the same client, but my own experience was very similar to what Erika describes.
