A hat tip to Kristen King for this one.
Peter Bowerman, author of the freelance writing Bible "The Well-Fed Writer" finally has a blog. Really, if there’s one new blog for freelance writers should subscribe to this year, so far this is it. It’s being touted as an "Income-Boosting Resource for Commercial Writers" but anyone looking to earn money in this business would do well to subscribe. Up today is "The Power of NO…When Turning Down Work Just Feels Right…"
Do drop by and offer your support to what will probably be one of the more popular freelance writing blogs to launch this year.

Thanks Deborah!
“The Well-Fed Writer” saying hi here… Thanks for your kind shout-out about my new blog (and hat tip from ME to Kristen for getting the word out to you!) at http://www.wellfedwriter.com/blog.
As you know, my whole rap has always been about writers making a LOT more money – and specifically in the arena of “commercial” writing field – writing freelance for companies, and for hourly rates of $50-125+ (and where ALL time counts). I’m committed to forever separating the words “starving” and “writer.”
But it’s not about gimmicks and get-rich-quick schemes – just a proven writing direction that pays more than typical “freelance writing” and offers tons of potential work to the writer willing to get out there and hunt it down.
I just launched the blog two weeks ago, have had four posts since then (by not posting more than twice a week, I’m committed to not having the thing be a timesuck for anyone – including me!)
I’m been delighted so far at the quality and substance of the comments I’ve gotten to the issues I’ve raised: how NOT to build customer loyalty, what to say to “short-cut” hunters wanting to get into the commercial writing field (and there actually ARE some shortcuts), and the power of saying NO to a gig. It’s shaping up as a pretty cool clearinghouse for some great input on a lot of issues. But, we’ve always a nice community here…
I invite your readers to come by and visit, sign up for the blog (AND my monthly ezine, now entering its 7th year of publication). Both are no charge. And for those curious about the commercial writing field, check out the no-charge report accessible from the top left of the home page at http://www.wellfedwriter.com.
Thanks for what you do!
Peter Bowerman
Thanks for coming by, Peter. I hope you won’t be a stranger, as I won’t be to your blog. The freelance writing community is warm and helpful so I know you’ll do well.
Deb
Interesting read about the commercial writing.
(Check the links, deb, they’re trying to include a period.
)
Oops. Sorry, Deb. Your links are fine, I was referring to the links in Peter’s comment.
I checked it out this morning – good quality posts from people who’ve been there (like the folks here!)
It’s worth a look!
WoW, it’s gonna be great, can’t even wait to forward what Peter would like to blog at his new blog…
Thanks for the hat tips, friends.
