I have plenty of work now, but I looked into it because I like reading ads of things I *could* do (verify there could be work later, I guess!). Anyway, makes me a little concerned there will be some >$.01 per word writer that will bid people out.

I guess for fast turnarounds like that, I’d like to see a company offer up some kind of bonus pay, or at least a guranteed minimum pay level (acknowledging the speed and the “dropping everything” aspect).

Even if it is a “walk in the park” with all their research and/or your experience, 65 pages is damn lot of words to do in 7 days! I about dropped my jaw when I saw that. Wanting huge quantities of words in very short periods of time as always a little suspect to me. (Why couldnt’ they plan ahead a little more to give more time to the writer??)

I know why they charge what they charge; but that isn’t my point. You don’t ferret out information that is germaine to the nature of a company’s operations with the express purpose of selling it so that some other company can get a leg up on the competition. It’s simply bad form.

Everybody running around talking about the new corporate ethics that developed as a result of the shenanigans of the likes of Enron and ImClone. But it seems to me that if an outfit like Off The Record can do what they do and still sleep at night, there is no change in the ethical climate, it’s business as usual. That’s what I object to.

This is also an excellent way to capture Craigslist info, even after it’s been flagged by idiots. Sometimes, you can snag an e-mail address in the brief intro in search engine listings and track it down. (There, that’s my little secret.)

I’ve had that problem several times this week. For one, I even tried contacting the organization directly and their email bounced back so finally I had to give up.

Very frustrating though.

“(the address) does not seem to be valid. It could be you’re trying to respond to a very old posting, or that the user has not requested anonymous email forwarding. Please check the address and try again.”

I’m at an impasse – the listing is still there, but there seems to be no way to either respond to the listing or to inform someone at Craigslist HQ that something is off there. Or am I missing something?
