Happy Anniversary!

You know, I’ve been lurking around your blog for the past two months… after almost a year of thinking to take the plunge. And yes I’ve taken the plunge right now and your site has helped me a lot!

Thank you so very much for the useful tips, great leads and daily gig postings. I got my first gig from here about two weeks ago and couldn’t be more grateful as it’s a start.

Are you telling me you wouldn’t put full time work first over a volunteer effort? Of course you’re going to take a higher paying job. Don’t tell us you wouldn’t think of the money.

And I don’t consider myself screwed if there aren’t jobs because there’s always good advice and good company here. Well, except for you.

I hope Debs keeping a record of these. She probably has a good case for harrassment at this point.

Jodee, hope you feel better soon. I had a nasty bug earlier this week, but it was luckily only the 24-hour kind. (Still sucked, though.)

Deb, the backup idea is a great one, too. Someone who already watches the lists and can jump in when needed.

I sure your mother taught you to mind your manners when you’re a guest in someone else’s house. Well it applies here too.

If you have room for one more guest blogger I’d be happy to write a post about taking the plunge into Freelancing. I don’t have advice for anyone, but I quit my job yesterday and I’m officially going to be a freelance writer starting in June(Yay!), so I could write about all the things we are having to figure out.

@Julie – Almost full time – about six hours worth of work a day for a private client. I love being busy, don’t you?

Suggestion: Find another freelancer to pinch hit at those times Jodee is unavailable. I think there are several on this board who would be available at a reasonable price.

I use subcontractors and backup subcontractors for the same reason. While I have one who is my first go-to person, I have a couple of others for different types of work and to whom I will turn if my first option is unavailable.

Unfortunately, there are no direct links on the list, so you’ll have to do a bit of googling yourself, but this can be a good resource if you have background in teaching or want to break into to writing for kids.
