Outside of my personal contacts, I received my first position (tech) here at freelance writing gigs. I’ve been with them for about three months and am now writing for other blogs on their website. Thanks to the position I was able to use it as a referral for my most recent tech position. They weren’t even hiring but I really like the website, read their feed daily so I went for it using the tech position I currently had as a referral. They hired me this past weekend.

I’m a business owner, working at home. At the end of last year, I started freelance writing. It made sense I’ve been writing for years I just never got paid to do it.

In the corporate world, I worked in technology so it’s nice that I can continue writing about technology, more specifically Apple something I’m fairly knowledgeable about with freelance writing.
Thanks for providing this list I would not have gotten the first job without it and most likely the second since I used my first as a referral.

Just more FYI, it really isn’t a specific opportunity, but rather an invite to fill out a contact form with your article (sort of like a super-basic query with unsolicited article).

But I don’t let that discourage me, because twice now I have had responses after several weeks — in one case, after three months. And that one resulted in a contract for a $1,000 article.

The list here is great but I am a bit jinxed. As I normally pursue one big job lead in every 3/4 months. I have applied for a couple in a space of a lil over a month and was told that my app was just a lil late, though satisfactory. Both the employers assured me that he will apprise me of any more work. Has this happened to any of you?
