Thanks for the Web Worker Daily link. I have a *huge* project I've been putting off. Just thinking about it makes me nervous.

I'm thinking I'm going to go the 24 hour route. But I've been thinking that for weeks, so maybe milestones...oh gosh...

LOL - back to the drawing board (or to reread the post at WWD) Thanks again for sharing!

Re: Plagiarism

It all depends on the plagiarism. I once took a writing job and met the first deadline landing a permanent gig. Three months later, the person asked me to do a different type of job. She emailed me saying the word count had changed to 250 words and that I needed to do ad copy for this new Mattress store. I did all the work on time and turned it in. A week later, she emailed me, irate, saying that NO ONE would ever ask for 250 words for ad copy and that I'd blown the assignment so therefore I could kiss the $150 I was due to be paid good bye. I still had the email stating 250 words, but she said I'd obviously gone in and altered the word count to "save my a$$."

A week after that, my articles appeared on that site with her name as the writer instead of mine. She'd added about 100 words to the content to make them appear larger. I emailed the Web site and told them to take the articles down or pay me. They ignored me so I went to the Web host and they took the site down until the content was rewritten. So in the end, it cost me a weekend's worth of work and $150 that I was expecting to be paid.

It looks like you and I are sharing the same busy schedules. This weekend went by so quickly it was a blur, so I'm catching up on link love while enjoying my morning coffee. It's amazing the amount of information that's out there and I'm thankful I can find it all in one place so I don't have to hunt! :) Thank you for sharing!

I am a newbie to the site, and I'm loving it. I feel more directed in my freelance writing ambitions. I feel it's a nice place to start browsing for jobs. As a new visitor, I'm wondering if you have any tips about the best way to pitch for some of these jobs. They tend to give an e-mail and ask for a few bits of information. Are there tips you or anyone can share about packaging and presenting information in way that gives us a leg up?

Re: "Frustration and Fighting Plagiarism"

It's always frustrating when someone steals from you and it costs you money. But plagiarism can also be quite flattering.

A few months ago I found one of my blog posts on the internet, translated into German.

Because of this, I've had to update my C.V. to include that my work had now appeared in many languages. It was a bit of an ego boost if nothing else.

I've really started to enjoy the links, Deb. Some sites I already read and sometimes I discover a new one. But the pieces you link are always interesting. Thanks.
