Freelance Writing Jobs for Friday, June 13, 2008

Good morning FWJ Friends! Happy Friday the 13th to You! Are you superstitious about this date at all? I did notice that the boards are a bit quiet this morning. I wonder if that’s just a coincidence or if some employers out there do suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th). I do have some leads for technical writers, translators, copywriters this morning. There are some editing gigs, too. There is an opening for an ebook writer and a few internships, too.

I hope this Friday the 13th is a lucky day for you and you find your dream job today!

Leads…

Good Luck!

Another early morning for you! *applaudes* Definitely a little thin this morning, alas, I am just not a socially conscious sports guru *sigh*. Still a fabulous list though. It’s gotta be the paraskevidekatriaphobia that’s keeping the jobs at bay…luckily for me, it’s payday! Have a lovely day!

    Hi Jodee
Very early morning for you to have the leads ready at this time. Thanks very much. Also, thank you for the Ottawa Magazine lead. I’ll give it a try.

  3. shells says:

yes agreed:) thank you for the list.

  4. Colleen says:

I have a question for you guys. I’m always leery when I see that employers want to be contacted by phone. Should I be?

  5. Kenna says:

I have never be fruitful with phoning a lead from Craigslist. But, that doesn’t mean this one is not worth trying. I have plenty of work right now, so I just sent an email with my stuff.

BTW: I like paper trails, it’s easier to remember and keep track of agreements.

  6. Ann G. says:

I agree with Colleen. Some are legit, but one time I called and the guy was actually a salesman who had used the ad to try to sell his freelance writing ebook and I was ticked that I spent the money on a long distance call.

I tend to avoid ads requiring a call now.

  7. maryam says:

i was wondering about instablogs, as it seems some got a response from them quickly, is anyone currently working for them?

  8. maryam says:

wow craigslist responses are scary fast.

  9. Elijah says:

First, I would like to say thanks to the editors and creators of this wonderful and helpful blog.

And second, I have a question. Is there a post on this blog discussing the actual format of application? I mean the actual details: how to start the application (Dear Editor, –?), how to formulate the request, how to conclude it (Hope to hear from you soon/Thank you for your time and consideration — that kind of thing?). And then, how to actually respond to responses without sounding too eager, giddy with happiness over getting the job, etc.

I think this information would be very useful. Or maybe I should be looking for links on this stuff elsewhere?

  10. Nicole says:

I clicked on the intership link on your paragraph Jodee because of the ad regarding scholarship money by essay. I applied and the dang thing is retarded. It didn’t have a section nor explained where to insert/send your essay. Not fault to you, just letting other know what I ran into.

    Nice list btw!
    Nic

    Maryam -
I was someone who also received a quick turnaround response when I responded to their ad (yesterday) – but I would like to know if anyone has actually worked with them??
    Anyone?? Anyone??
