And I thought I was the only one up at a ridiculously early hour! Thanks for the leads Jodee.

  2. Jodee says:

@ Fiona: Nope, you’re not the only one up. :) And you are most welcome! :)

  3. Joanne says:

the chinese vegetable one offers “0.05 cents” per word. Yikes!

  4. Salman says:

    Hi there

so I am your new reader from today. ‘nofullstop’ from DP to be specific…

you have always been a great helping hand their in DP and I am sure I will benefit from this blog. Looking for a long term writing job and will beat the last unit of energy out if myself so as to get hold of one… :)

  5. Jodee says:

@ Salman: Welcome to FWJ! You’re right; you need to put yourself out there and keep applying for gigs that you think would be a good fit for you.

  6. Thanks for the lead for proof-reader for US-based publisher, Jodee. I sent the lead to a firend who is a freelance copywriter and suggested he visit FWJ for more leads.

  7. Jodee says:

@ Damaria: You are most welcome. :) Thank YOU for referring FWJ to your friend.

  8. Rachel says:

Did anyone else notice the $10 for “15 word paragraphs” in the dating website ad?
    Seems a little…. well…. odd.

    Good morning everyone.

  9. Jodee says:

@ Rachel: Happy Monday! I did see that…I was thinking it might be a typo….

  10. Happy to Write says:

I’ve replied to that $10 for “15 word paragraphs” ad elsewhere and it provides me with an instant email reply where it states to sign up on the dating site, etc., etc., etc. I also replied to another dating article ad and it did the same thing. The wording was almost exactly the same in the reply email but from two different people and for two different dating sites.

  11. Ann G. says:

Re: Dating Ad – a lot of them are using the trick of high salaries to hook people into signing up. I fell for one a few months ago with an ad writing home descriptions for RealtyTrac and while my spam filter deals with their messages now, I can’t get off their mailing list. They leave no way to get off and I’ve even called their number and gotten no where!

  12. Nicole says:

Morning! Nice posts for today and I notice you use the right day Jodee, yay for you! haha, just giving you a hard time.

  13. Jodee says:

@ Nicole: I remembered to check my calendar this morning, LOL!

  14. Cindy says:

Great list as always Jodee. And to think I slept in this morning and you beat me up! :)

I think the dating and chinese veggies are the same person. I must admit I was curious about the chinese veggies. Then I had my caffiene and all was well again LOL.

  15. Paul says:

The article writer for the web and print job bounces back

  16. Leeann says:

This is a great site – thank you for running it so well!
I have a question, not sure if this is where to post it…
Does anyone have an opinion or experience about whether it’s easier or harder to get a regular, full-time job after freelancing full time? I’m thinking about freelancing full time (b/c of gas prices!) for a while, and I’m afraid it’ll be harder to get another job afterwards if I freelance for a while.

  17. Paul says:

Sorry..wrong job…it was the copywriter that bounced back no the other one.

  18. Heather says:

    Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks for such a great web-site. I’m currently an English major writing minor and will graduate in December. I found your site in the Writer’s Digest magazine. Although I’m not qualified for most of the jobs yet, it’s really encouraging to see the list every morning and know the dream job is out there with hard work and persistence.

Thanks a million, it’s a great way to start off the day!

    Heather

  19. Ann G. says:

    Re: Chinese Veggies

I emailed him and he said they’ve received more than 200 applicants and are going to start narrowing down the search from those who first responded.

  20. Jodee says:

@ Leeann: When/if the time comes to look for a full time job after freelancing for awhile, you will want to anticipate what a prospective employer’s objections to hiring you would be and address them first. They may have concerns about your not being committed to the full time job for the long term or that you would find it hard to interact with others on the job if you are used to working independently.

  21. Jodee says:

@ Heather: Thank you for the kind words. That makes getting up before dawn worth it! :) With hard work, persistence, and a little luck, you can get your dream job.

  22. Angela says:

Oooh, nice list today Jodee! I’ve got a few that I think I’m going to go for today. BTW…wow you were up early! You even beat me to the punch today! yikes!

  23. Stacie says:

Very nice! Thank you so much!

  24. Ayda says:

    Hello all,

I recently applied for an online editor position and received “the call” for an interview. However, I have absolutely no idea as to the average rates of this job. This is a full time position (with freelancing opportunities) and I will probably be asked how much I expect to earn per month. I don’t want to scare my interviewer nor do I want to end up settling for less.

I’d really appreciate any advice from you guys.

    Many thanks in advance

  25. Jessie says:

FYI, 2,400 South African Rand per month= $297.89…That’s just a bit below the going rate, am I right?

  26. Jodee says:

@ Jessie: That would depend on where you are located and the number of hours involved, I suppose.

    You have a nice day.
