Jodee -
Several of your links, including the Mervis blogging gig, are coming up with 404 errors. Just FYI…
Sandi
@ Sandi: Thanks…I’ll check them now.
I’ve checked the links and I think we’re OK now. Please let me know if you are having any more problems accessing today’s list.
Thanks again Jodee for the great leads…and by the way the site looks fantastic!
@ Lisa: You are most welcome! I like this color combo, too!
Writer needed for Ezine articles still coming up 404
Thanks for the long list today, Jodee!
Great list of links, Jodee!
For me, the color of the links are difficult to read (light on the light background). I absolutely love this template!
Jodee, I’m disappointed! I was up at the crack of dawn today and the jobs weren’t posted yet *tsk tsk*. Haha just kidding, wanted to let you know that since I upgraded my IE I can see the page much better and it looks beautiful. Completely reminds me of my mornings with that cup of coffee up there. Cheers!
Hi Jodee,
Great leads. I especially like the couple of Ottawa leads. Thank you for all your work.
I agree with Cindy. Overall I love the new look of the blog, but the links are hard to read.
Wow, a new look and tons of leads today!
The look is fabulous. I love when successful blogs make major changes to celebrate new stages in their development. Congrats!
Hey Jodee,
Thanks so much for the leads. I’m wondering if it is still possible to have the links highlight once a job has been clicked on?
Just thought I’d check.
@ Angela: I know, I know, I was “late” this morning…
@ Rhonda: I’ll send your question along to Deb. I’d be interested in seeing the links change once they have been clicked on, too.
@ Everyone else: You are most welcome!!
I also love the color of the site but found myself squinting to try to read the job links. But the black is very sophisticated.
I’m also squinting. Larger font size would be appreciated (us geezers don’t have the eyes we once did).
Would also like to see the return of the comment counter.
Gorgeous. Now I really want my cup of coffee!
Wendy
The yellow color is too hard to read
Great list – I like the new layout but I have to agree (cringe) with Margie about the yellow color being hard to read.
It does make one want to grab a cup o’ java!
I’m going to get some (more) java right now…
The yellow/orange color has been commented on by quite a few people and I know Deb is aware of that.
I love the template, but I can’t read the job links, the light color on white is giving me a headache.
I agree on the orange color, it does strain the eyes a bit.
I just heard back from one of the ads already. The guy wants detailed marketing advice on the direction his web site should take before offering anyone the job. I sent back general comments and was told he wants a really detailed ad campaign including target demographics to decide who to hire. That makes me leery because that’s a lot of work for something I may or may not land.
Like the new look, but for older eyes, the yellow/orange is murder to read. Could you either make the font larger or change the color?
The new design was great, but I wanted to offer a comment to see if you could start a discussion. I am having a recurring problem with jobs on craigslist.com. Too often to count, the person responsible for the post asks for a resume and a few writing samples to be sent via the craigslist email address. The problem is that craigslist emails will not deliver if they contain more than 100KB of data. This means I have to cut and past text into the email which I think looks a little unprofessional. This drives me crazy! Has anyone else faced this problem?
In the spirit of offering constructive criticism, I have to say I liked the old site better. It was just a little more lively, eye catching, and easier to read. But change is good. Maybe keep tweaking it a little? Thanks for all your hard work and job leads as usual. Still a great site!
wow–love the new digs–very nice!
And Melissa yep–I have had this issue too, and I am always afraid people are gonna to think I am a hack if I cut and paste my resume. What I often do to combat this is write a preliminary email and ask for an alternate address to send a larger file due to the issue–most times, they understand and happily comply!
Hope that helps.
Alicia
I like the new layout. The orange links are a bit hard on the eyes but overall it’s a snazzy layout.
Lots of job leads today. Thanks again, Jodee!!
I cannot see the orange color writing. I have to highlight everything and then read it. Otherwise the site is very savey.
about Craigslist issues:
I explain in my response that Craigslist doesn’t allow attachments over 100k, then point them to my writing portfolio website where they can download my resume and many writing samples. I also let them know that I’ll be more than happy to attach the documents if they email me back.
about site changes: I agree with the orange links on the blush background. I found myself wishing they were put in BOLD face, as I can see the “Pamela Says:” etc. fine.
Great list again Jodee.
Love the new look!
Re sending attachments to CL ads, maybe I’m just getting cranky in my old age, but I’m getting tired of sending CVs, clips and rate info to all these blind ads. I’m including a line in my responses that those items are available once I hear back from the person placing the ad . . . at least I’ll know who the person/company is. I realize that I may be killing a shot at the position, but have to wonder how many of those blind ads are just fishing for information. I realize that a lot of job posters don’t want to identify themselves because they’ll be bombarded with phone calls . . . but it’s not as if they’re not already bombarded with emails (other than the fact that they don’t have to answer them . . . I’ll save that gripe for another time).
Completely O/T, but I just have to say that the only thing I’m doing less today than writing is cleaning. Sigh…
Hi Jodee,
I love the look of the new site – it’s so much simpler and easier on the eyes. Thanks for all the leads too.
Beautiful new site format. Great listing today, as well.
Thankyou!
I love the new layout, Jodee! Very professional looking. When I clicked on, I thought I had gone to the wrong site… then I saw the “candidate posts”!!
Wendy
Really like the new site. More unisexual. One thing: the visited links don’t turn a different color, which is pretty helpful when coming back day to day.
Website is nice but can’t read the links. Orange does not work. It actually hurts my eyes! Anyone else?
Hi,
I am new to this web-site and I was wondering, are there any jobs out there for those of us who have skills but have not gone to college and have no degrees, ect…? I am self-taught in many areas but I do understand some jobs need certain requirements. Thank you
@ Lucie: It is possible to get a job as a writer without a college degree. I don’t have one; I have a diploma from a two-year program at a community college in Office Administration.
Deb discussed this idea in a past post. You can check it out here:
http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com/do-you-need-a-college-degree-to-be-a-successful-writer/
Hi Lucie–I don’t have a degree and I currently make my living as a freelance writer. That said, I did attend numerous writing courses and seminars when I could afford them (workign fast food jobs) and I boned up quite a bit on the subject. I didn’t have the money to go to school but I didn’t let that be a deterrent. You can get on at ground level with internships at certain companies, some paid, and learn valuable skills that are just as important as any degree.
Good luck and God bless!
Alicia
I really like it. Looks a lot more professional!
I got hired!
The guy who needs Ezine articles hired me and two other freelancers to write articles that use “optimized keyword phrases” for websites that need more visitors.
EEK!
@ Naomi: Congrats on the new gig!
