Thanks for the great website. I’ve been visiting it for a few weeks. I found a gig last week and submitted an article. I received an acceptance letter today. It doesn’t pay much, but it will go towards gas.

A quick thought that you may want to relay to the employers posting ads with craig’s list emails; Many of these employers write in their ads that they require writing samples as well as resumes. Please advise them that Craig’s List has a very low maximum size for file attachments and it is therefore impossible to include so many attachments. They may want to consider including a private email or some other way of sending the attachments that would otherwise cause a craig’s list email bounce back. Hopefully this is helpful advice. Maryam: I too applied for a position originally posted on Craigslist, and they called me the same day! I’m so grateful for stumbling upon this site 2 weeks ago because I did land the job of my dreams AND found a side writing gig. I applied for each job with a, “What the heck; I still have my $12.70 an hour job” attitude – hence the continued job search. Maybe it’s not LOCATION…LOCATION…LOCATION but rather TIMING…TIMING…TIMING.

sounds like a bestseller to me,( or an episode of ER ha!) or even a blog !
Real life is frightening sad but true…
I am shocked that i heard back from two craigslist…and almost immediatly, which means that if you dont hear back the same day they prob aren’t that interested.

Thanks guys. I’ve been a surrogate mom to the teenager since he was 8. His mom banned him from coming over here when he was 13 (two years) because I took him to the ER without her permission. I knew he had appendicitis and she was convinced it was food poisoning. Turned out I was right and his appendix had ruptured, so she spent years blaming me for social services coming into her life.

Sadly, when she finally decided to move on, he was 15 and heavy into drugs, cutting and huffing. Now he’s a dad and he’s trying to straighten out, but a high school drop out in today’s world isn’t going to get far.

And, Maryam, the book I could write about that family is downright frightening! Three teen parents, a 7 year old, 2 babies, then the two adults – all living in a 2 bedroom home, it’s just terrifying, but my kids are learning a lot of what NOT to do.

Gah! The SEO Blogger gig’s email address keeps bouncing back to me. I hate it when that happens, after putting together a killer application and collection of samples.
