Lo and behold he asked for a story idea, I sent it to him and eventually he said yes but it took another email to get the rate and word count. I'm happy to say it pays quite well. He never asked for a clip or resume. A definite lesson in patience and persistence. I also wrote for a local food coop/alternative health magazine off and on for over 5 years and never thought it would get me anywhere but the clips paid off as did developing a style the mag liked.I got to pitch story ideas off and on but also had a choice of assignments.
