I admit it… I miss knowing how much money is coming in and when it will arrive. I don’t miss having a set schedule that is set by someone else.

What could I do without as a freelancer? Dealing with my own accounting. Yuck.

I’m glad to hear you like your new job, Deb. I was interviewed last November on Blog Talk Radio (for my work as The Quantum Coach) and will be interviewed by a new host soon as well (Canfield coach Michelle O’Connell). She keeps encouraging me to start my own show, which I just might do! It was a good experience.

I am currently on site at a corporate client. It’s nice to have some social contact, but really, I do prefer to work at home. I love being in charge of my own day. I work out more that way, too, and save money on gas and lots of time commuting.

Working from home (as I used to), I did find it extremely hard to punch out, so to speak. I made myself too available, even on weekends. When I have the chance to do it again, I’ll set some hard and fast rules for myself.

I had my first experience as a guest on BlogTalk radio last Monday, for the upcoming release of my novella HEX BREAKER, and I had a blast. What fun!

I can imagine how much you enjoy it.

There is NOTHING I miss about a full-time job.

But then, I’ve freelanced for almost my entire profssional life.

Phil and Lori got it right, I no longer “clock out” and the day quickly melts into the night. The pajamas make up for it. Most days.

I don’t miss office politics, gossip, and waiting on someone else to complete a step before I can get started on my part of the work.

That’s great about loving it at BTR. Congrats, again!

What do I miss about working a FT job? Aside from the certainty of a specific, guaranteed amount every month and in-person grown-up interaction/intelligent conversation, not much.

I miss being downtown and being able to take walks with friends at lunch.

What I don’t miss are the early morning hours, dressing nice, air conditioning, annoying coworkers, having someone stare over my shoulder — actually, I don’t miss working in an office at all.

As Lori says, I miss the opportunity to truly leave work. I also miss human interaction (not the same on the phone or through e-mail). Now that my kids are teens, I miss getting out of the house (they miss it,too, and indicate that to me often).

I don’t miss corporate politics, backstabbing, etc., and the expectation that one is to do 10 hours of work in an 8 hour day (on a good day).

Glad you’re enjoying your new job! I don’t have much full-time work experience (I worked outside the home for about a year after college, then I became self-employed). Still, I miss morning coffee. I would get to work about 20 minutes early and have coffee with a couple of co-workers. It was a great way to unwind before the day started.

@Dee – Since I’m working at home, I don’t get to mingle with people in the physical sense and I do misses lunches out and coffee chats. But no, I don’t miss meetings. I think some businesses have meetings just for the sake of having meetings and it’s silly.

@Mariella – This job couldn’t be any more prefect to me – if it wasn’t so tailor made, I wouldn’t have even considered going for it.

@ Jeannie – I have many duties at BTR but I’ll be handling the social networking on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and more. You can also find me at the BlogTalkRadio Blog, and of course I’m not disappearing altogether from FWJ.

Yep, it’s really nice to hear you’re having fun. I never had a full-time job so I don’t know what to miss about it, but if anybody offers me something akin to a full-time gig (as long as it’s telecommute), I think I’ll accept (if the price is right, that is).

It’s good to hear that you are enjoying the new job!!

I truly miss my staff and the fun times that we had at work! We do tend to keep in touch via email but nothing can replace the dynamics we had in our office.

I don’t miss the outrageous number of management meetings that happen at the corporate level. If I never have to attend another powerpoint inspired meeting….I just won’t miss it!
