A Little Link Love for the Last Weekend in July

This is proving to be an eventful week. One blog community launched an ad network that’s turning out to be very profitable for me and a great blog network is closing its doors. There are also plenty of useful tips, ideas and anecdotes being offered online.
Here’s what I’m reading this week:
- Performancing launched Performancing Ads. I don’t endorse anything I don’t believe in, you know that. I’ve had lots of success in beta. Those of you who are struggling with ways to monetize your blogs might want to look into it.
- b5Media’s Jeremy Wright offered an open letter to KnowMoreMedia today. It seems that KMM will be closing its doors on August 1st. Last summer I was a blogger for KMM and I loved my experience there. The team and bloggers handle themselves with such class, this news makes me very sad. I wish nothing but the best for the KMM family. As someone who worked for b5, I can tell you they’re also pretty classy and encourage KMM bloggers to think about Jeremy’s offer.
- Lorelle Von Fossen discusses blog bullies and having a solid comment policy over at Blog Herald. I like Lorelle’s post so much I updated FWJ’s own comment policy.
- Jonathan Bailey talks about the legal risks of blogging at Blog Herald.
- Joanna Young has a liberating post at Confident Writing about cutting your word count can free up your writing.
- Brian Clark says we need more cowbell. I just wanted to link to the SNL sketch.
Getting by with a little help from my friends:
- My friend David Peralty is teaching us how to organize a blog post at XFEP.
- My friend Liz Strauss tried to break the web yesterday.
- My friend, and friend of FWJ, James Chatrand talks about landing guest posts – as a serial guest poster I think he should know! at Men with Pens.
- My friend Darren Rowse is offering up some ingredients for successful blogging at ProBlogger.

Thanks for the link, Deb. I’m trying out PerformancingAds myself. I’d love some tips for getting more out of it. Any pointers?
How did it get to be the last weekend in July already?!
Thanks for the link love
Ahh, yes, your crowd will like this series on guest posting, Deb. Thanks for including the link to the 1st post in the series.
Deb, thanks for noticing Know More Media’s demise. I’ve been a full-time editor there since it launched in 2005 and I have always loved working on the team and with such a great group of blog authors. I have no regrets. We’ll all move forward and apply lessons learned to our future efforts.
Love the Beatles reference.
Thanks so much for the link… love the company I’m keeping!
