i don’t understand why so many people want free articles. do they know how much work and time goes into writing, polishing and getting it right only for them to expect you to let them publish your work for free. it’s so unfair!

Question to anyone – I don’t have a huge back ground in freelancing jobs. I currently have only one; a blog for online schools. I’ve read some tips/instructions on a cover letter on applying for a freelance job on the internet.

My question is this, how do I make an impression on a company with not a whole lot of experience but is very interested?

I suppose I will never understand how on Earth people expect to be taken seriously with such obvious mistakes. If (as an example) writingarticles was taken, could these posters not be more creative? Or, perhaps, simplify it by using a company e-mail address. Sigh. Unfortunately, these sorts of things are all too common, I find, when searching for freelance positions.

@ Shells: That ad looked good until I got to the spelling error. I made an editorial decision and decided not to include it. Anyone who is recruiting for a magazine should know how to spell the word “query” properly and if they don’t, then that’s a red flag.
