Good morning FWJ Friends! I’ve got leads for people looking for work as proofreaders, translators, copywriters, and bloggers this morning. There are opps for content, sports, and entertainment writers. A few internships are included as well.

A note to anyone interested in applying for the Green Electronics Blogger at TreeHugger.com. (It’s marked like ** so you can find it easily.) This company is paying a referral fee of $1,000 to anyone who successfully refers a new hire. We would appreciate it if you mentioned you found the link to the job posted here at FreelanceWritingGigs.

Thanks again for a great list Jodee!

There is a listing that is on Craigslist today that Jodee didn’t post, but if others scan Craigslist looking for work, I figured I’d save some, some time.

The Craigslist ad 746939094is for “Writers Needed For Various Web site Clients” and the guy who responded told me I must send two writing samples plus a $5 membership fee before he’ll send any work. I found it on the Boston site, but I’m betting that he’s posted elsewhere too.

Ann, did he even give you a link to his site so you could see if it was reputable. I have heard of a few places that charge a fee to get jobs. Many writers at WAHM seemed happy with one company that did this, however I’d be very skeptical.

Is he going to evaluate samples before you pay a $5 fee?

  4. Angela says:

    Never pay to work…period.

  5. @ Angela: Amen! Since when did freelance writing become Amway?

  6. Ann G. says:

No, he didn’t give a site and the articles are required with the payment. Sounds to me like a way to lure people in. Even if he only lures 10 people into this deal, that’s a quick $50 he’s earned and he can then disappear.

And his line stating “I think it is perfectly reasonable to charge writers this fee to ensure they really will do the work” is garbage. A person looking to be paid isn’t going to take on the work and then run off. It’s far more likely for someone to demand money or articles and then never pay.

    sounds like a little song I know…
old macdonald had a farm, scam-i-scam-i-o…and on that farm he posted a job… scam-i-scam-i-o… with a scam, scam here and a fee, fee there, here a scam, there a scam, everywhere a scam OOOOOO… (you know the rest).
    :)

  8. Woah, Ann, I bet he doesn’t even have clients who need copy – his target audience is writers!
