…would you listen?
Ever since I started working at BlogTalkRadio and listening to some of the great programs, I’ve been wondering about have an FWJ radio show. We can discuss freelance writing tips and have guests, interviews and listeners can call in with questions.
So…if we were to launch FWJ Radio, would you listen?
Thanks!

I might listen. I mean, if I had a computer that worked quickly enough to power web radio, I would DEFINITELY listen! At least sometimes… I tend to have difficulty finding time for media-related things like watching TV and listening to music. It’s easier for me to check Web sites, because I’m often in front of a computer and I can just scroll right over whenever I have a minute. Right now, my computer is a dinosaur, and I wouldn’t be able to listen. It’s too slow and choppy to run video or audio feeds. So sadly the answer is probably no.

I love talk radio and podcasts, especially if they are about subjects that are professionally beneficial or of personal interests. If you were to make it available in podcast format, then I would definitely download and listen. Thanks again for all the great work!

Count me in! I love having something on in the background while I work and I can’t get enough FWJ.

Oh, lord yes. I hope you end up doing one!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 am
Sure! That would be something that I could listen to in my day job and still build upon my part-time passions.

I’d have to listen when the kids were asleep and after buying new headphones, but yes, I would!

Very cool. Definitely something to expect in the future - oh and all BlogTalkRAdio shows are available on demand after the live broadcast so you can listen to the stream or download for your convenience.

I would be more available to listen in the evenings.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 am
That sounds like a great idea!

I rarely get to listen to anything that isn’t kid music, but I’d sure as heck try!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
Absolutely! Would shows be available as podcasts as well?

I’ve done a lot of radio and I love it — both as a participant and a listener. I was interviewed on one of the BlogTalk shows a few weeks ago, and I saw the difference in traffic.
I think it’s a splendid idea, and I hope you do it.

I would indeed! Sounds very cool!

I wouldn’t listen. It’s the same problem I have with podcasts, there are some I like and find interesting, but after a few episodes I give up. I can’t just sit and listen to something, I feel the need to multitask and when I do I end up not paying much attention to talk—I’d rather listen to music while I’m folding laundry.
If it were possible for me to listen to talk while reading something else, that would work and I would do it. It’s just not possible.

I agree with Carly. My computer is old. Sometimes it handles video feeds well and sometimes it doesn’t. I hope to upgrade within the next six months to a year, so I would be more likely to listen once I had a faster machine.

Most definitely. I love your website and can’t live without it.

An emphatic YES!

Deb,
This would be very useful to me. I’ve been in broadcasting for 21 years (currently program director at WAY-FM / Nashville) and have found podcasts a much more convenient way to consume my favorite content. My drive to and from work have become much more productive.
With the blog subscriptions I’m juggling, I often find it’s hard not to get lost in all the clutter or find the time necessary to actually read the latest posts. Yesterday morning at 9am, I’d read it all and cleared them out. Right now, I have 160 posts calling my name. Ugh!

I am one of those people who has to have background noise in order to really work well. I always have something playing on my computer as I work whether its a YouTube playlist, something from Hulu (yup, I really do listen and not watch), K-Love online, etc.
I would definitely listen in, though it might get distracting as I work, due to how much great information you present that I need. If you archived the shows as well, that might be helpful.
Also, with how much you and Jodee already do for us around here, I am really appreciative that you would consider taking on even more to help us out! You spoil us, you know!
Thank you.

Own radio talk show for FWJ?
WoW, I can’t even wait for the launching day…
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Yes, I would listen. In fact, I recently started searching the Internet for online radio shows for writers, and so far, I’ve only discovered a few for writers. Personally, I would love to see more online radio shows for writers!

I think this a great idea. You could have a show about freelancing, and at the same time you could teach us writers to use BlogTalkRadio. I’ve been thinking about adding podcasts to my site, but I haven’t been brave enough to play with podcasting tools yet. If FWJ was leading the way, I’d feel much more comfortable taking the plunge.
