Thanks for your work! I picked up a an opportunity through one of Jodee’s posts. It was a one-time gig, but because I got published it helped me land a part-time writing job for a weekly paper in my community – EXACTLY the type of work I wanted! That one by-line opened that door. Thank you!
I just realized, reading this post, that I’ve not thanked you for this website. Since starting my freelance business, I’ve applied for and got hired as a writer for several companies (all of which have steady projects) and a lot of them came from FWJ’s job leads. There were more offers but had to turn them down because I wouldn’t be able to do the jobs anymore.
Thanks for the great articles and tips, too. They’ve really, really been helpful, especially for starting freelance writers, like myself.

I actually had great news last week. One of the writing jobs I’d landed thanks to this site last month is now turning into something permanent. The company asked me to take over their admin duties including helping draw in additional sponsors and handle overseeing all of their hiring and firing of writers in the future. So once the training is done, I’ll be pulling in a much steadier income.

Hi Ann – How cool is that? Many times what we think is a one off gig turns out to be a steady stream of income. Congratulations – further proof that we need to present ourselves at our best whether working for a small gig that may never happen again or something bigger.

I’m new here by 1 week and got my first job on the 3rd day. The posting from Larry Amon for hiring more writers for a publication of Christian Eschotology worldview was really up my alley. I took a break for the last several years while my 4 teens finished growing up. I’m coming back to full time writing now and things have changed greatly leaving me feeling somewhat lost in the fish pond, though glad for all the opportunities.
That’s why I’m very grateful for this site and the work you do. I’m catching up on the newest and latest of freelance theory education and learning where the jobs can be found, even a couple dozen other sites thanks to you lol. This is my first stop in my day with check ups throughout the day in case of last minute additions. Any way, thanks so much for providing such a high quality site for freelancer’s without a fee.
I think this is a great site. My only wish would be that the ads provided at least some kind of pay range. It is really frustrating to go through all the trouble of applying, only to discover you are applying for a job that pays $0.003 per word.
Is there a particular reason why pay ranges can’t be provided?
I landed the construction magazine gig that Jodee posted on the 10th (I think), and it’s a great break for me. I had been getting really frustrated and looking at day jobs, and this might enable me to continue fulltime freelancing! Thanks so much for the site! I’ve been checking it everyday for months.
Oh, it wasn’t meant as a complaint! Maybe I should have said, why can’t the people looking for writers/bloggers be more open about their wages?

I`ve also landed jobs from this site, though not in a while (I`m pretty picky these days since I have steady work). But I still stop by every day to see what`s going on! It`s a great site.

I rarely apply for jobs I find here, but I was hired by a company that paid a rate I could live with- 21 cents per word. Unfortunately, there were 20 writers and just 10 assignments so I haven’t done any writing yet. But I can submit my own artilce ideas and I plan to do that at some point. I also got a response for a job writing monologues which sounds like fun even though it doesn’t pay much. So I have no complaints because this site is just one place I look for jobs. And I like the diversity of jobs from aritlce writing to fiction to scripts.

Hmm…well, I apply for a lot of positions on here, and a few of them have panned out, most notably a “how-to” writing company that’s led to some other opportunities, as well as another group I get some intermittent work from doing pages for their hotels. I’ve got a couple of people who have said they’ll get back in contact with me but haven’t done so, even after I’ve called them back and asked what’s going on.
It’s not bad, but it’s become pretty clear I need to do a lot more somehow to make freelance writing full-time. Which is definitely not a slam against your site. I’ve spent a couple hours on here a day sending out apps to the various positions you dig up. A more helpful site I cannot imagine.
