Hi all
This guy is advertising again on Craig’s List but now it is Washington and I did flag him. Needless to say, I received no reply to my email informing him it was not a legitimate job offer. I did talk to a computer nerd friend and he said that in his opinion it didn’t make sense to hire a writer to do a website review because usually they hire developers. If there is something wrong with the site, than they need to change it and that requires a developer. If they just want a lay opinion they can ask friends and employees. That sounds sensible to me.

Hi All
This is to let everybody know there was a gig on Craig’s for Sunday which said “Looking for a writer interested in a new web site concept. Interested? Send brief email to andyjames6@gmail.com Compensation: $250.
So I sent the email. He replied giving me a URL with instructions to click in on it, enter a cell phone number, get a PIN number and then evaluate the site. Now I remembered what Jodee said about a gig in Raleigh that if the money was high, it could be a scam. Well, $250 sounded like a lot so I scrolled down and read the fine print at the bottom of the page which clearly states (very fine print and very detailed) that if you click on the submit number and get a PIN number
you are agreeing to pay $9.99 per month for this service.
So this, from what I can see is a scam. I thought he was on Craig’s
LA but when I went back to flag it I couldn’t find it. So I thought I would let everyone know. If I am wrong about the scam part, I am sorry. But I would say be cautious. For me, I am out of it. I sent him back an email about the above and saying it did not appear to me like a legitimate job offer. Jodee, thanks so much for that advice a month ago. Renee

The native English speaker copywriter/editor Australia. It’s a website that acts as go between for clients/contractors. You are required to complete a ‘free signup’ to get onto the site and register your details. However, you cannot access the job details to place a bid without paying for membership of the website.

@Renee – the debt reduction one I saw a while back and I didn’t bother filling it out because the link the guy gave me didn’t trace back to him at all. After falling for it once with a real estate site, and seeing more than 400 emails a day go into my Spam folder, I’m not willing to bother with people who are simply looking to gain some affiliate income by getting you to sign up. That’s all they’re doing.

Hi All
Does anyone have any experience with Lavabits or hotpop.com. They advertised for website reviewers on Craigs and/or here. But you answer, they reply that they are working with 3 sites which you must review. You must log in to these sites. You must type in your REAL name and a valid email address. If you don’t do this, your application will be deleted. I tried the first site for lavabits. It was a credit reduction company. They also required two phone numbers. I gave two businesses out of the yellow pages. Ten minutes later I had emails requesting me to call for a consultation. I think this is a scam. However, I wonder if anyone else applied. They say they need 22 website reviewers. Thanks Reneee
