Good morning FWJ Friends! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I’ve got opps for copy writers, editors, and translators today. Leads for content writers, bloggers, and technical writers also made the list. There are a couple of gigs for translators as well.
I came across this quote from George Bernard Shaw on the subject of circumstances and I thought it was worth sharing.
People are always blaming circumstance for what they are. I do not believe in circumstance. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstance they want and if they can’t find them they make them.
Here’s to making the circumstances you want and I hope that you see something on today’s list that will help steer you in that direction.

Frequent visitor, first time poster…
I had to say thanks Jodee for posting my favorite quote in the world today. I have this one posted in a few places around my house, including right on my desk. It is definitely a motivating one for me!!
Also, since I am posting, thanks for my daily leads! I pop in every morning while drinking my coffee.
Liz R.
@ Liz: Great to hear from you!
The quote is inspiring, isn’t it? It makes me want to get out there and tackle the day.
Great quote!
Thanks for the early morning leads… always appreciated.
That quote from George Bernard Shaw basically sums up exactly what I was trying to say in the post I wrote last week for FWJ Idol. Obviously I should have just channeled his spirit and had him write the article for me. Or is that plagiarism?!!??
Re: Circumstances
Totally agree from two perspectives. When ever something goes wrong (e.g., bad grade) my teens come up with “it’s not my fault.” YES IT IS
When I started going from just scraping by to having a successful freelance business, my mother would say: “You’re lucky.” NO I’M NOT, I WORK MY TAIL OFF. Similarly, when business falls off, it’s my fault for getting too comfortable with the business.
I’m a firm believer that people make their own circumstances, or luck. Granted, there can be unforeseen items (I have great reverence for Murphy’s Law), but it all depends how one deals with those.
@ #4: I think we’d have to get a ruling from Deb on that one, LOL!
Thanks again.
Has anyone noticed that the Altanta posts for Craiglist get flagged more than the others?
It’s funny how we always seem to come across things we need to see or hear exactly when we need to see or hear them.
I have recently made the decision to move to L.A. and pursue my screenwriting more seriously, but I had no idea how I was going to go about it. I started to panic a little and think maybe I had made the wrong decision. But, this quote reminded me that I can do it. Thanks!
OMIGOSH! Jodee, it looks like you were finally able to get me out of the spam filter. My last comment posted straightaway! I’m sort of just testing to see if it was a fluke. Hehehehe.
Thanks!
Thanks for the website content leads, Jodee!
I just want to say that I appreciate the quality of the leads on this list! It’s not just a lot of the usual $5 an article baloney that I see on a lot of other lead sheets I get. I’m a very experienced business reporter and corporate writer, and I find jobs that are likely fits for me and my substantial hourly rate, often more than one a day! I love how there’s usually something for everyone from interns and newbees to pros.
It’s great to have a one-stop place to look that pulls together everything that’s going on out there from Craig’s list to Media Bistro, sologig and the rest.

GUESS WHAT EVERYONE?? I got a job for that new Haitian magazine that was listed last week or so! Fantastic… close to my heritage and they pay well ($100-350/article, articles under 1000 words usually.) Thanks for the lead and a great blog full of these regularly-listed opportunities. I’m so happy that I found a place where I can build my resumé, submit own creative ideas, and generate good clips while catering to a niche market that I understand. (Oh, and where I can get PAID to do all that
, delicious icing on the cake of freelance work).
How exciting Roxie! Congrats!
Roxie — That’s awesome! Congrats!!
Jodee — Thanks for the quote. It’s one of my favorites too.
I also appreciate all the job leads that you cull each day and have applied for several, getting a hit when Demand Studios picked me up. I applied for the NFL writers job today, as well.
@ Amelia: You’re welcome.
@ Phil: I believe in making your own luck, too.
@ Kristy: It’s happened to me many times that I find a piece of information or someone tells me something at just the right time. I hope you keep us posted on your progress.
@ Amanda Nicole: You are most welcome.
@ Carol: You’re welcome, too. I try to include a variety of leads for our readers. We want people who are just starting out as well as those who have been freelancing for awhile to find something of interest.
@ Roxie: Congrats on the new gig!
@ Amy: Since you guys seem to like quotes, I’ll include them every now and then when I find something interesting and appropriate.
@ Michael: Congrats on getting hired at Demand!
