The $20 a day thing would seem to preclude living in New York. Unless you’re independently wealthy.

Seriously a billion thank you’s — I got a gig because of this fabulous site!! And the pay is good, the work is great and the woman I’m writing for is fun. Thank you so much.

On another note: I didn’t write samples based on her specific need until after we’d emailed a couple of times and talked on the phone (which was an interview actually).

Only after all of that did she ask for a “test sample”. It felt very above board and turned out to actually be legit.

I think when these people ask for work before they’ve shown any real interest in hiring us, it’s unprofessional and likely a huge waste of time.

On another note, why do clients ask for writing samples AND an audition piece? If the writing sample is in the same field as what they’re looking for, is an audition piece really necessary?
