The ad for the finance writers is just what you said. I sent them the following query email yesterday becuase of also answered the ad the first time. And for the record, this is not my standard cover letter template.

Dear Dude:

I can write about finance and stuff. Let me have the job, cause I like need the dough really bad.

Rock on!

And you guessed it, I got a response back telling me to sign up for the site and take a look around before emailing them back to say that I am still interested.

Did anyone else notice that the proofers/copy editors posting from Demand Studios changed at some point? I bookmarked it yesterday morning, saw that it had a specific email address for sending resumes and planned to send mine off last night. That didn’t happen, but when I opened the bookmarked page this morning, it’s now another call for freelance writers. I seem to recall this switcheroo has happened before. Does anyone out there have the email address for sending in proofreader/copy editor applications?

Hi jodee, again a wonderful list.I have applied for “talented writers required”..They want health writers and I am basically from that area…so applied..rest am expecting a positive response..lets see…

Thanks for the lists Jodee! So far I’ve gotten some positive “nibbles”, but really the most exciting gig has been being a Health Care Examiner on that National Examiner site. The pay barely warrants the definition of the word and only kicks in after tons of page views (thankfully my regular clients keep business running) – but it definitely helps my internet presence and it’s just a lot of fun being a healthcare blogger. So thanks for bringing that to my attention.

@Amelia: I’ve cried over rejections, too! I know I handle them better now than when I was first starting, but it’s still tough.

I actually got an email back from the site owner that said he was planning to go through all of the responses later this week, but he liked my background, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Rejections are never easy, but I find it easier to take them by phone or email than live in person. That’s the worst!

Deb – After your comment about fundraising yesterday, I find myself snickering now. One of my son’s friends stopped by with the fundraiser his high school is holding – and they haven’t even started school yet! He told me that all of the students were sent fundraising packets in the mail to get a jump on the school year.
