Your Top Three and the Next Assignment

This posting is bittersweet. We’re down to our top three, but we’re saying goodbye to Megatron. I can’t tell you how much it breaks my heart. This writer is an amazing talent and will go very far. Megatron, I was rooting for you throughout the contest and am so pleased you made it this far. Please know you made it farther than most of the candidates. Let me know if you ever need me to put in a good word for you. You will be missed and i hope you will continue to be an important part of this community. I really wish I could hire everyone.
So the top three are:
- Gigantaur
- Captain Caveman
- Underdog
All of the contestants will receive new names.
Your next assignment is open. Write about anything you’d like as long as it has to do with freelance writing.
Now: A little twist to the contest. Last week Jodee and I were getting our Skype on and thought of a few devious ways to mix up the contest. This week, all entries will be posted at the same time. It doesn’t matter when you turn it in (unless you miss your Friday noon deadline), none of the writings will be posted until all three are received.
Well…why are you reading this? Go on. write. We all have work to do. Can’t spend all our time on this frivolity. Go on. You have work to do.

Megatron was definitely my favorite.
I agree.
Wow. Megatron you were definitely a crowd favorite, as well as being a remarkable talent. You did a great job of interacting/stirring up the community — sorry to see you go, and I also hope you’ll continue to be a part of the FWJ community.

The results surprised me as I thought Megatron rocked at getting the community together. I’m very sincere when I say how sorry I am to see this writer go.
Ditto for me. I am very sorry to see Megatron go.
I thought Megatron did the best job this week as far as getting everyone talking, so I too am surprised.
I wish you could hire all four too Deb.
I agree that Megatron did an excellent job in generating the most comments, but I voted for Underdog because this writer offered information I can use. We all have different reasons for coming here and for me getting relevant information is more important than interacting online.
When it’s over, can you release secret identities?
Hi Phil- Not only will we release identities but bylines and links will on all writers blog posts. We will reveal the names of the candidates and the winner on the new blogger’s first day of work!
Awww, I really liked Megatron…sorry to see you go! Best of luck.
Also sorry to see Megatron leave – definitely my favorite.
Cool. By the way, there was a separate post about a credit union needing a writers but also need article pitched to big pubs. I can do the writing, but pitching is an issue. I posted to see if anyone wanted to collaborate, but received no responses. Do you, Deb or Jodee, know anyone that would fit the bill?
Thanks
Man, I feel bad now. Sorry to see Megatron go but happy to see Underdog stays. One of those can’t win things, y’know?
Good luck to the rest.
Awwwww, guys, I’m blushing. Thankfully I have no regrets because I really feel that I did the best possible job I could with my post this week, so I’m honestly just happy.
It was AWESOME to interact with you all every week, and I will really miss it! I hope Deb will invite me back sometime to guest post! And you can all definitely expect that I’ll be sticking around and commenting often.
@ Megatron – You can only come back if you promise to heckle us.
Congratulations, everyone!
Gigantaur, it’s a deal!!!!!
Megatron – You are welcome to guest post any time! And if you ever need me for a job reference, I’m more than happy to stand up for you – as , I’m sure, is the the whole dang community.
Wowzers and yikes. If I am ever in need, I’ll definitely let you know, Deb. I feel really happy that some of the members here have enjoyed my posts, and I do admire this site so much!
I am really surprised (and dismayed) that Megatron was eliminated. Since the assignment revolved around community conversation, I think Megatron accomplished that with flying colors. Not only did Megatron interact with the community well, but Megatron also got the community interacting with one another in a way I have not seen much of as of late (maybe because a lot of our ‘interactor’ leaders are in the contest? lol).
Even days later, though it had slowed, people were still interacting on Megatron’s post. It was great to see that we have so much in common with one another – and to get so many tips and such great information from one another. I loved learning more about so many here on the site.
I think it really helped to show that even though we are all at different levels and stages, we really are all ‘in the same boat’ – and together. Its nice to know you are in good company and have a ’support system’ that understands what it is really like to be a freelance writer (especially while juggling so many other things).
Megatron – I hate to see you go. I think you did a stellar job, and once identities are revealed I will be adding your blogs/websites to my daily ‘must read’ list.
You’ve got a friend/fan in me.
Deb,
I’m new to this site. Can you please explain the contest rules or direct me to information about it?
Thanks.
Hate to see you go Megatron, if you have a blog (I’m sure you do) when all is revealed I will definitely add you to my reader!
Dani and Underdog, thank you so much! I’m really flattered to hear such amazingly kind things from you both. It’s a pity I can’t keep posting every week, but FWJ is in good hands with the contestants remaining. Good luck, Underdog!
Ya know, I thought I should add that I was not being rude to the remaining contestants. I think I have said before (but I will say it again) that all four (Megatron and the remaining contestants) of you are truly talented writers!
I think all 4 of you are completely qualified to write here, and I think all 4 of you have strengths that would add something unique and interesting to the FWJ family.
I was merely commenting that I was shocked to see Megatron voted out with how much interaction there was and with how well I believed Megatron fulfilled the challenge of last week.
I appreciate all of you devoting time, energy, and talent to this, and look forward, as always, to reading more from you all.
Good luck to you all!
