Good morning FWJ Friends! It’s the start of a new week and I’ve got leads for news writers, copy writers, and bloggers this morning. There are opps for technical writers, reporters and translators. An employer needs a comic strip writer and another one needs a person who can draft great letters.

A trade mag geared toward the beer, wine and spirits industry needs writers and there is a gig for someone who can write content on the subject of lovemaking and foreplay.

As always, I hope your dream gig is on today’s list. Please do let us know if you get hired for anything you see posted here.

Leads…

Good Luck!

There are rumors over the web this week that b5Media is cutting our pay big time next month. Has anyone else heard anything?

  2. Ann G. says:

Didn’t I hear a rumor last month that b5Media was cutting pay? Don’t know if there was any truth to it or not, I never saw anything online about it. But at the same time, nothing surprises me anymore. I passed on the Today.com pay cut and passed on the one that Universal Class just handed out. I can’t keep passing on work though, so it scares me what will happen in the future.

I’ve seen more companies shut down in my state in recent months than I ever imagined. We just learned this morning that one of the big warehouses in my town is moving to New York leaving 40 people without jobs. This follows a month after IBM lay-offs, VT Tubbs moving out of state and two other factories that shut their doors without warning. Worse was my husband coming home last week and saying that their president said they have enough work until 2010 now that they moved half the company to Texas to save money. The management’s not certain of the company’s future after that. It’s scary. He’s been with that company for thirty years, right of of college, and now he’s uncertain what will happen in a couple years. If this company does shut down, that’s 220 more in Vermont without jobs.

The Content Writer for Lovemaking…ad does not have a valid email address. Craigslist reports that the posting may be very old or the user did not request email forwarding. Just thought I would let you know. Thanks for job leads, by the way.

  4. Ann G. says:

I didn’t have a problem with the Content Writer for Lovemaking Ad. The guy owns a number of sites (www.sneakin.com), builds them up and then sells them for a profit, so I doubt it would be a permanent gig but I emailed him to see what he’s looking to pay.

  5. Thanks for a great lead list to kick off a new week, Jodee!

Thanks for the great leads, Jodee.

The trade mag about beer and wine (I love wine) made me think of an article my roomie sent me this morning. It’s a little scary, but I thought I’d share it:

  7. Sirena says:

    Hi Ann,

I’m not sure what’s wrong on my end then. I have tried it a number of times but it keeps coming back as not a valid address. Maybe something to do with my email. Thanks for the information though. :)

  8. Star Borner says:

The “lovemaking” content writer email did not work for me either. Thanks, as always, for a stellar list of leads!!!

  9. Wendy says:

The lovemaking address didn’t work for me either.

  10. Deb says:

Well. It looks like there won’t be much lovemaking for some people today. ;)

  11. Jodee says:

@ Deb: LOL! I tried to send a test e-mail to see if it would work, but no dice….guess I’ll just have to be frustrated today!

  12. Kristen King says:

Maybe it was just more love than they could handle. ;]

  13. Casey says:

Hi! I hope to be calling myself a freelance writer fairly soon and I find your blog tremendously helpful. I’ll be attending a networking event this week with freelance writers, PR professionals and business communicators. I’m hoping to make some good contacts. Any suggestions for putting myself out there as a new freelancer? Conversation starters, things to discuss, etc. I’m a little shy so I have to plan these things out you know…:-)

  14. coolingstar9 says:

wow, this is fun to be freelance writer.

  15. Ann G. says:

How funny that the lovemaking worked for me and no one else. Must have been my lucky day!

  16. Christy says:

    This one’s a scam:
Writers Needed for Web Sites – Telecommute ($0.10 per word and up)

It’s a craig’s list post with a yahoo email address (name Andrew Rand out of Arizona) asking for Women’s health articles. The guy wouldn’t tell me the name of the hiring company or provide a website. Said something about needing an NDA and ind. contractor form to move forward. An NDA to find out who I’m working for? I guess the FBI’s into laser hair removal now. :(

  17. Christy says:

Hold that thought… the guy actually got back to me today offering a good faith payment. We’ll see what happens, but I didn’t want to sully his name in error. Proceed with caution.

Rock On...
