My question is what happens if the publication does not pay according to contract? I wrote an article that would have netted me $250 if the publisher had paid me. The editor won’t even return my e-mails. Do I post a story about the publisher on my blog and write it off as a learning experience? I want to name names of the company ( and the editor) so they don’t rip off another writer.

I haven’t noticed it… I see that you have to look because many jobs are getting more specific, that’s what I see… but the money is there.

@Stacy: I also didn’t find anything direct on Media Maxwell… and I had the same, uhm, concerns as you.

I find the wording “unique writing sample” a bit odd. I don’t plagiarize, so all my writing is unique, thank you!

In addition to less high-paying jobs, I’ve noticed a lot more jobs that require specific, “unique” writing samples. It gets kind of frustrating choosing between not applying or spending valuable time writing a sample just to be considered.

Krista, that’s been my observation as well.

Has anyone heard of Media Maxwell Blog Network? It was one of the leads today. I googled the name, but didn’t get a solid hit. The pay sounds very attractive, but that required writing sample and no known website is sending out red flags in my mind.
