What’s the going rate on an exam these days?
Also? Dude took out the ad yesterday and the test is today. I’m not a scholar but I’m thinking it’s not enough time to screen the applicants, if you know what I mean.
I mean, I could say I’m a biology major and take this guy’s $500 or whatever he’s paying, and then blow off the test or do a major screw up. Not that our friend here really deserves a good grade or anything. How nice that you can buy an education these days. Who will he pay to do his job for him – if he’s ever hired anywhere?

Oh…this one is beyond just shaking my head. My question is, what kind of class is it that the professor can’t keep track of who’s actually taking the exams??? There are all sorts of tools in this tecchie (tekkie?) age to keep lazy students from getting away with academic murder, so to speak.
Hmm…could trigger a good article topic, though! “Doing a Background Check on YOUR Doctor: Did S/he Really Attend Medical School, or Instead Hire a Dummy to Take All Her/His Tests?”
Sigh…
Yikes! He’s probably been congratulating himself for being so resourceful.
This doesn’t surprise me (unfortunately). I see listings looking for dissertation writers a lot more than I’d like to admit. It’s scary that there are many doctors, scientists, and other “well-educated” people walking around who don’t deserve their credentials.
Just stunned silence here!
What a creep! I mean, he doesn’t list the compensation!
Oh, c’mon, doesn’t it seem like there’s a certain justice in collecting a few benjis up front and then failing the damned thing? That way, he gets what’s coming to him (a horrible grade and a small fine) and a starving artist gets to eat for another day!
Allright, I’m a street justice kinda guy. I admit it. But hey, it all works out in the end.
(side note: Alicia, you are spot on about the number of people with credentials that don’t deserve them. I put it to you that this is how we wound up staring straight at a Depression in the first place.)
Wow.. Very Scarey.
As Kyle’s mom says in South Park “Wha, wha, WHAT?”
Paying someone else to take your exam?
That’s just sad!
You know, it never would have ever occurred to me to hire someone to take a test for me. What does it say about someone that they not only think about it but advertise it on craigslist? Yikes! Please tell me this person doesn’t want to be a bioethicist one day…
As someone who was a former graduate student TA for gen ed classes, this doesn’t surprise me at all. We would require students to show us our student ID’s – we had 200 kids in our class, so it was hard to keep track of everyone.
It’s sad what “education” has come to. Having a degree doesn’t mean much other than you either had the money to go to school or went into debt to go to school. A lot of these kids are happy to turn in things they copied off the internet (about 50% of papers I graded were at least partially plagiarized…). The worst part is when the football coaches get angry because you’re failing their star player who never showed up to class!
Enough with my ranting…this sort of thing really gets me going though!
I hope it’s just me becoming paranoid but…
It’s scary to imagine that the doctors who will do major operations on us might be using this ” resourcefulness” while in med school.
Scary, isn’t it?
Ronda’s right. I’ve seen far too much of this kind of thing. It depresses me so much that I try not to think about it.
I bid on jobs occasionally on another freelancer site, and it’s amazing how many people hire writers to knock out college essays, mid-terms, and finals. My favorites — I swear, it happens at least once a month — are the brain donors looking to pay someone to write their ethics essays.
side note to Ronda: I’m an elementary school teacher, and I deal with the same thing, except in my case it’s parents who are offended when I don’t believe their child authored the encyclopedia article they printed off the internet.
When I was working on my PhD, an ongoing moral argument among students and faculty was whether it was ok to get someone else to write your dissertation. As strange as it may sound, there are many academics out there who think it’s ok because you need to prove your knowledge and research skills, not your writing skills! (Their argument, not mine).
I agree. I’d take the money and run just to teach the guy a lesson. Loser. If I get an F in a college class, atleast I earned that F.
Some people are unbelievable… Hope his professor comes across this ad!
I used to cover education for a daily newspaper in California, and many of the teachers I interviewed started using resources like Turnitin.com to scan their students papers for plagiarism. Which is good news of course. But it doesn’t solve the problem of a person hiring someone else to write a paper for him….unless the hired gun plagiarizes, I guess.
