Honestly. There are no words…

Hello. My name is Richard. I’m a born and raised New Yorker, who is in the middle of writing a play, which (knock on wood) should be up in June.
The story entails a woman in a Real Estate Office who feels as if she’s been sexually harassed by one of her “superiors” (a male coworker).
The back end of her character is she is a repeated victim of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse as a child. This, in turn, drives her to have many unresolved issues, with men of power — in or out of the workplace.

My wish is to have the opportunity to interview women who find themselves in the adult-film, nude modeling, or prostitution business.
Please do not take this as placing a value judgement on women who work in these industries. My main focus is to find out the reasons as to why they have chosen (or perhaps, in some instances, been coerced) to be part of this lifestyle.
Unfortunately, I can only offer 15 dollars cash per hour.
All participants will remain anonymous, and privacy will be respected.

* Compensation: 15 dollars cash per hour
* Principals only. Recruiters, please don’t contact this job poster.
* Phone calls about this job are ok.
* Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.

And really no words are needed from me because Jodee summed it up pretty well when she said “I would think that anyone doing porn or turning tricks is making a heck of a lot more than $15 per hour…but hey…..”

I would have to second Jodee’s sentiment and say that anyone in the adult industry, even amateur, would laugh raucously at $15/hour, especially at someone who wants to talk with them basically about what went wrong in their lives for them to end up in the industry. Oy.

Side note: When I saw this in my Google Reader, I read “The Deb…” I think we should start calling you that.

  2. Erika says

LOL!! Yes $15 would seem pretty paltry compared to her “other work”. Like maybe she’d give you a one minute interview to keep it on par with her normal pay.

Oh yeah, and then spill your guts to me while you’re at it.

  3. Kim Kinrade says

Hey Richard, everyone is in the middle of writing a play! But why no recruiters? What if you landed one that would . . .whatever for $15 an hour?

  4. says

What does real estate have to do with prostitution??? So he wants to interview sexual abuse victims for the sake of his play? That’s messed up.

  5. Sharon says

Aside from the fact that he spelled the word judgment incorrectly, I might be in the minority to think that he should be able to find some girls willing to talk. I don’t think they’d feel “degraded” accepting such low pay compared to what they’re used to earning. And if they’re in their chosen profession because they like the attention, then wouldn’t they like someone listening to them talk about themselves? Maybe I’ve watched one too many documentaries or tv specials, but I’m guessing a nice, calm fully clothed interview would be a walk in the park compared to the daily work of those professions.

  6. James says

He will definitely be able to find girls to talk to. I know several girls in this “industry” and the recession is hitting pretty hard. I’m not saying they aren’t working. They are definitely working, but their earnings are down like everyone else. $15 an hour, if it is legit, is still $15 guaranteed money.

Now, with that being said, I don’t know how much interest he will get. This is going to probably come off as a potential “hooker trap” and many will stay away for that instance alone.

Of course, that is my opinion.

  7. Miodrag / ??????? / ?? says

You really shouldn’t be so judging.

This valiant anti-patriarchy pseudowriter-amidst-a-writing-block is volunteering his precious B&BNY (born and bred New Yorker) time to women who can’t afford a shrink.

So instead of them paying $250 (how much is that in Euros this afternoon, 50 and falling to 35? 😉 ) for a 45 minute session, they get $15. A total win of $ 265 for them ain’t THAT bad, now is it?
