Hey Jodee,
Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for all of the work you do. I landed my first gig from this site yesterday, and it came at a much-needed time. You provide an awesome service and the FWJ community is such a great resource. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the leads Jodee! Picked up 2 new clients in the last day! They were both jobs I found here! Thank you!
Hey guys – I posted a question about the last internship job in the forum, under “Hey guys… I have a question.” If you’re thinking of applying, please read my question before you do so. It seems like it could be a trick job lead listing. Also, any feedback on what you think would be appreciated.
Like the others here, I *think* I might have a job from yesterday’s leads. Contacted me (Craigslist one) and was positive from my resume and writing samples. Still working out a time to visit on the phone about how I could fit their needs. Not exactly a contract or anything, but it is sounding like they want me.
You’re having a good week here, Jodee. Like finding the “hot” seat in the fishing boat!!
My “hopeful” from here came through – very professional and better $$$ than I expected. Thank you Jodee!!
Great weekend, everyone.
P.S. to Jodee and Deb – can we please get a link from here directly to the forums? Sometimes I’m too lazy to go back to the portal …
my two favorite places should be linked, IMHO …
I didn’t even realize there were forums…can someone post the link to them? I like to chat, LOL so I should check them out
Never mind, I found the forums.
This is so strange. In the time of our worst economy in most people’s memory, I have gotten more work (or are at least in a favorable position of being accepted) than I can even believe.
And these are decent jobs, too. Not $5 for 1000 words or something sweatshop-like. Pretty close to my areas of knowledge, or at least reflecting skills I’ve gained through previous/current work and the learning curve is maybe only in gaining knowledge on a specific topic.
Dealing with global economy woes seems to be tied-in to flexibility IMHO. If I were just out there trying to hustle up a traditional job in my field in my town, I’d be facing something different.
I do work a little in the “real world” (haha), but the opportunities are getting more limited, even in my relatively conservative small city in the midwest. Big job cuts here recently, and not so many new ones available.
Thank GOD I decided to get flexible and make my writing career serious LAST year, so I have momentum and experience to pull from this year. I applied to one job here and another job I saw just earlier this week on another board.
I look like I’m going to get both, and I wasn’t even thinking I’d hear from either of them!! Just applied on a whim because they seemed to fit and I thought I’d take a chance. How surprised am I??
I feel blessed and I’ll certainly take the work. I wish more people I knew personally had some flexibility for their skills to do more than just only look in the obvious “office sector” for work.
GO BIG FLEXIBILITY!
And how about that for all the Erika’s and Erica’s on here!!! Hardly ever happens – we need our own name club!! Anyone out there on this blog spell it with a K??
