Hi Jodee, thanks for the leads!
I’m finding it harder and harder to find gigs to apply for to meet my tactical goal of sending out at least one query a day this year – but I did find one here to respond to.
Hope all’s well – stay warm!
Thanks for the early postings!
Thanks Jodee:
I never told you that I appreciate your breaking the gigs in to on and off site. That saves me a lot of time…time needed to write. You are the best.
Hi Jodee, thanks for the postings!
I’m with Hazel – it’s getting more and more difficult to find quality leads and gigs lately. I’ve hit a real dry spell! Thanks for keeping us up to date on openings. Hopefully I’ll get some replies to my queries soon.
Thanks for the leads
The listings do seem to have hit a dry spell, I agree. So I’m using the downtime to explore other options – querying magazines that I’ve been putting off for a while, wracking my brains for further book ideas, etc.
Great Leads as usual Jodee. Thank you. I wanted to share a new site I found. http://www.jobboardforwriters.com you can promote yourself on the site, ask questions and get critiques of your work. It is brand new, but I think it will be helpful to writers.
I was wondering I was the only one hitting a dry spell, and I’m glad to hear that I’m not! My background and expertise (health care, education, etc.) just doesn’t seem to be matching up with very much lately. Hopefully things will turn around.
But I’m definitely grateful to Jodee for working so hard to find the leads that she does. Thank you!
Has anyone applied to the women’s social media PNN gig? It’s an odd sounding post? Do they want a media relations person or a journalist or both? Also, are they only going to pay if you can talk an editor into publishing a story about their company? That is a weird posting because it asks for a freelance writer but it sounds like they want you to do PR at the same time. I have a PR background so was curious what the deal was with that job. I haven’t contacted them because the posting sounds odd to me. I’m not sure what they really want?
Therese,
I thought the same thing. They don’t seem to be clear. They seem to want to pay (though they aren’t clear about pay) someone to get articles placed, but they’re also expecting (it sounds like) you to be the one to write the article, which I don’t see working at all. You can be the PR person hired by the company and also the freelance writer covering the company. There’s too much really obvious conflict there. TBH, I closed out the ad because it seemed to me that they weren’t really clear about what they wanted.
I have seen PNN ads before, and I personally don’t think they are EVER clear. Besides the obv. conflict of interest, I don’t think you could be compensated enough for the time it would take to query various media sources. They really should be hiring for two different positions.
Thanks a lot, Jodee.
