Again, thanks for your patience while our host held us hostage. We ended up moving back to our previous host, and all of this took a good part of the day yesterday. What you see here is the backup version of FWJ.

I’m posting some leads, though I don’t know if they’ll be up permanently or what other changes will be made to the blog this morning. Thank you so much for your patience. Here’s the whole sordid story of what happened yesterday, if you’re interested.

Leads…

Have a great weekend. Hopefully we’ll be up and running at our normal capacity very soon.

Thanks for the leads, Deb – this morning went better for me!

  2. No matter what server you are on, we still think you’re the best. Sorry you had to deal with stupid people, but at least your readers will always be loyal. Thanks for all you do (and all you have to put up with). We do appreciate it.

So sorry to hear about the issues yesterday. I wondered if it was something like that. I hope a real solution can be devised now, that will give you some peace while keeping things running smoothly. Life’s just too short…

Servers can breakdown or snfu it’s way to aggravation. I write for several sites — this type of thing happens — yikes!!

It’s how fast the server can remedy the situation that counts — when I say counts, I mean counts in money lost to the webmaster and blogger.

I’m not totally positive, but that “Legal Writing” job might not be the best idea. As a formal paralegal, I am 99% positive that it is completely against BAR rules for a law student to pay someone to help them with a brief. If his law school finds out, it could mean some very serious consequences for his career. Answer that ad with extreme caution!

Re: the bipolar job ad. The original post is more than two years old. You’ll probably have to try to contact someone at the site to see if the deadline has been extended.

  7. Thanks for the leads Deb!

What counts is you’re here, the info. is here, and we’re here!

    Have a great weekend!

As far as Heritage Solutions (alleged content mill), I had applied there months back and in doing some quick research it sounded like a less than reputable company. Actually quite fitting given your experiences with the server, this is a web development company that allegedly offers super-low rates for setting up websites but pulls the old bait and switch where all of the sudden it’s 10x the price. If I remember correctly, the job entailed contacting clients and discussing their website needs, then writing all their web content. Do a quick google search and you’ll find plenty of unhappy customers. Also, it required a pretty in-depth test to apply–something like doing an entire sample website.

So it wasn’t a content mill, but it also didn’t seem on the up and up. Not worth anyone’s time, imo.

Thanks for the leads. I did try to stop by yesterday and wondered what was going on. Now I know. I’m sorry that you had to deal with that however you have a great attitude to take this experience and learn from it so that you don’t treat others the same way.

@ Wendy: Actually, the bipolar ad is NOT more than two years old. The moderator whom you quoted was mistaken, and corrected himself, saying that he accidentally misread and was looking at the user’s join date.

The ad was only posted two days ago, not two years ago.

    Hope that helps! :o )

Thanks for the leads today, Deb! Sounds like a mind-numbing circle of Hell you were in yesterday. I worked in a call centre where the motto was to not bother patching people through to a supervisor (who was too busy going on Myspace), but I ignored it and finally ended up quitting. Horrible customer service really gets my goat >:(

Rock On...
