Thanks for the leads today, Deb! Sounds like a mind-numbing circle of Hell you were in yesterday. I worked in a call centre where the motto was to not bother patching people through to a supervisor (who was too busy going on Myspace), but I ignored it and finally ended up quitting. Horrible customer service really gets my goat >:(

@ Wendy: Actually, the bipolar ad is NOT more than two years old. The moderator whom you quoted was mistaken, and corrected himself, saying that he accidentally misread and was looking at the user's join date.

The ad was only posted two days ago, not two years ago.

Hope that helps! :o)

Thanks for the leads. I did try to stop by yesterday and wondered what was going on. Now I know. I'm sorry that you had to deal with that however you have a great attitude to take this experience and learn from it so that you don't treat others the same way.

As far as Heritage Solutions (alleged content mill), I had applied there months back and in doing some quick research it sounded like a less than reputable company. Actually quite fitting given your experiences with the server, this is a web development company that allegedly offers super-low rates for setting up websites but pulls the old bait and switch where all of the sudden it's 10x the price. If I remember correctly, the job entailed contacting clients and discussing their website needs, then writing all their web content. Do a quick google search and you'll find plenty of unhappy customers. Also, it required a pretty in-depth test to apply--something like doing an entire sample website.

So it wasn't a content mill, but it also didn't seem on the up and up. Not worth anyone's time, imo.

Re: the bipolar job ad. The original post is more than two years old. You'll probably have to try to contact someone at the site to see if the deadline has been extended.

I'm not totally positive, but that "Legal Writing" job might not be the best idea. As a formal paralegal, I am 99% positive that it is completely against BAR rules for a law student to pay someone to help them with a brief. If his law school finds out, it could mean some very serious consequences for his career. Answer that ad with extreme caution!
