Are you using Twitter to make connections and network with other writers – and the people who hire writers? If not, I recommend you take it into consideration. Twitter is a powerful and useful networking tool, plus it helps to break up the lonliness many of us experience when we work at home all day.  Feel free to follow me on Twitter @debng – and post your Twitter names below so the FWJ community can follow each other!

Here are some leads for today:

Good luck and enjoy your day!

  4. Samar says:

    Hi Deb,

The Article Writer position looks fishy. I sent in an email and got an automated reply with a link that said that I need to fill out the application form. When I clicked on it, the page led me to a Lottery winning site :s And the link seems to have an affiliate code in it.

I’m interested in knowing if someone else has filled it out and what response they got?

  12. Thanks for these, Deb. The Article Writer ad is a scam to register and then pay to get work.

    I’m @AmandaNicole on Twitter.

  13. Phyl says:

    Twitter: @AnnPietrangelo

  20. Janet Harriett says:

I sent an email in reply to the autoresponder to the Article Writer list firmly requesting to be removed from any lists being compiled, rented or sold. I’m not sure that will do any good, but I also reported the post to freelancejobopenings.com as “At best, misleading.”

Thanks for the great daily collection of postings. This is my first stop for gig prospecting, and I have found some great ones through your site. You do a great job of filtering out the listings that have the Through The Looking Glass definition of “job” as “something you pay us for the privilege of you getting to do.”

  21. Steve says:

    Heads up!

Today’s job lead #6 (“Article Writer”) is spam.

The contact info. is one John sanderson, who sends an automated reply with a link, requesting an application. The link redirects to that stupid, godforsaken “Freelance Home Writers Wanted” with the ugly green background. You’ve undoubtedly seen it.

    I’m talking about these ding-dongs:

    http://www.freelancehomewriters.com/landing12/?caCode=FHW%2DROI%2DNOPOP&p=1&caid=13937&cid1=0&cid2=905&cid3=0&cid4=False&sid=&stID=69&new=1&misc3=CD8690

This “site” wants you to pay for a subscription to a monthly lead service with automatic billing to your plastic, ‘natch.

Avoid as you would a social disease.

I know of no one who ever got bupkis out of that website.

    regards,

    Steve

I got a job offer from SliceDice Marketing, too, but decided they looked like more trouble than they were worth. I can’t find anything about them, but I don’t trust any prospective employer who is so adamant that your initial sample be previously unpublished.

  50. Ned B says:

    @nberke Thanks!
