For those of you who are new to FWJ, I left my office job seven years ago to pursue a full time freelance writing career. It was a life changing experience and I was (and still am) successful. A year ago, I left the world of freelancing to take a full time telecommute job that was right up my alley. It was a great job and an important experience, but after a year I’m back to freelancing. It was an interesting experiment and a good reminder of why I left my full time job in the first place.
My friend Alex Fayle, who inspires us every day at the remarkable Someday Syndrome blog, posted an interview with me discussing my decision to leave corporate America for a full time freelance career and why I have no regrets. Check it out. If you don’t already have Alex’s blog bookmarked, I recommend you do so. Alex’s blog posts are so motivating they should be everyone’s first thing in the morning read.
Oh and P.S. One of the regulars asked me where I get my daily coffee images – and I forgot to respond. I get the images from a variety of Creative Commons sites. Mostly Wikimedia and Flickr. The snarky retro posters come via my affiliate with AllPosters.com. Glad you’re enjoying.

The image you have today looks just like the ones in a funky book my aunt gave me for Christmas. It sits up like a little calendar and is titled ‘I Bitch, Therefor I Am.’
I choose a new one each day to match my mood. One of my favorites is aimed at my husband, ‘No husband was ever shot while doing dishes’
Ha!
Thanks for the list — it’s a good one, very refreshing with lots of creditable leads.
Maybe that’s why my wife tolerates me so well
I do all the housework….
!!!!
Just wanted to say “thank you” for the obvious hard work and research you put into publishing these listings. It is much appreciated. Thanks again!
I liked today’s coffee picture. It’s a funny way to start the day.
Hi Deb, I read your wonderful and inspirational interview. I’ve been following freelancewritinggigs.com for over a year now, and your leads helped me to land several gigs, and move closer to my own goals. Thank you.
Deb, I just read your interview. You truly are an inspiration! I have a similar dream and it’s so encouraging to see that someone else was able to make theirs come true.
Hi Deb:
I love the interview. I, too, left the corporate world – very recently. I have written my very 1st entry on my blog: A Baby Boomer’s Second Life – What They Used to Call a Mid-life Crisis. At this point, my blog is just for fun as I learn the ropes. I would love to hear from others who are following your dream. And you don’t need to be a Baby Boomer to share.
You can find my blog at http://blog.millercathy.com
My website for my freelance writing is http://millercathy.com. I would love to hear from y’all. Make life count. Deb, thanks for sharing and for your generosity of spirit. Much success to all!
