FWJ Welcomes Lorna Doone Brewer and Simon James!

When I announced recently that FWJ was looking for a new writer to make us laugh a couple of times a week, I never imagined I’d receive over 500 applications. Choosing one funny person from hundreds of laugh out loud funny applications was a challenge. Even more challenging was knowing that I would have to turn down many friends, even though I wanted to hire them all.

Every time I narrowed down more applicants, two people stood out at the top of the list. I read all the cover letters and many of the writing samples, and they were the clear winners each time. How would I choose between the two? I flipped a coin. I had my son pick a name out of a hat. I even did rock, paper scissors, which is kind of difficult when there’s only one player. At the end of the day yesterday I made a decision. I would hire both. One will blog for you twice a week (or more if she’s feeling the love) and one will blog for you twice a month. Both will regale and entertain you, of that I’m sure.

Freelance Writing Jobs is honored to welcome Lorna Doone Brewer and Simon James to our network of blogs. There was no way I could choose between either. I’ve known Lorna for some time now and she’s funny, bubbly and down to earth. She has a good following of fans (me included)  and is a perfect fit for this community.  Simon wrote the funniest cover letter I ever read in my life. I even called in my husband to listen so he could laugh too. He had me at hello.

Lorna and Simon will begin writing for us in July, and I’ll let them tell you about themselves then. I can’t wait for the fun to begin!
