Freelance Writing Jobs for July 16, 2009

Thank you, all of you, for your patience as we straightened out our server issues from the last few days. It’s been a little stressful, but we’re coming through. Most of the blogs are up and running and they should all be operating at normal capacity, as pretty as ever, in the next day or so. I appreciate all of your support via email and Twitter. Your words of encouragement made this all so much easier.

  1. Lauren says:

    Stellar list today, thank you!

  2. Kenna says:

Great list. Sorry to hear about your snfu. If it is any consulation — my waterheater broke and my client can’t pay me until the end of the month.

What do I do? Keep writing!!!

  3. Brian says:

Any idea where “7. Financial News Writer – Atlanta” is supposed to point to? It currently links to the same job as the one above.

No complaints (beggars can’t be choosers), but I thought I’d ask if you’ve got the original stowed away somewhere. I checked the Atlanta Craigslist, by the way, and it doesn’t appear to be from there.

  4. Anne G. says:

@Kenna – That’s always so frustrating. I had one client announce they were switching to a 6 week pay schedule, but gave a week’s notice. I had a propane bill to pay and the Pyrofax was far less than understanding about why I couldn’t pay them on time. I’d paid what I could and explained that I wasn’t getting another check until July 14th. I ended up turning off our phone because they had their collections department calling every hour and no matter how many times I explained the situation and offered to fax the letter I received with the new pay schedule, I was met with “Sure, you haven’t been paid. We’ve never heard of any employer who doesn’t pay at least every other week. Stop making excuses”

I was paid Tuesday and sent the money immediately. No one’s called me to say, “Hey, you weren’t lying…” Needless to say, I’ve had my fill of Pyrofax and am searching for a new propane company.

  5. Jeanne says:

Whoo hoo! They’re back! Thank you – it is so good not just to see job leads, but to see the whole site back up and running. Missed you guys!

  6. Kecia says:

Sorry, but I had to point this out…Did anyone check out the “11. Freelance Writers- Payday Loans – .05/word” listing? The person who created the listing signed off as “Edward Cullen.” Is it just me, or does using the name of a character from a very popular book seem a little spammy?

  7. Kenna says:

*Anne G. Yes, some times I think these collections people are robots. Finding the right button to push to get the correct response can be a real pain.

  8. Site looks great, Deb! Welcome back.
