Before I begin, I want to wish my husband a very happy birthday. If it wasn’t for his support years ago when I decided to leave a very good (but hated) day job for the freelance life, I wouldn’t be doing this today. Happy big four-oh to my soulmate and thanks for putting up with me and all this – and not rolling your eyes too much when I talk about blogging all day.
Also, there’s a little behind the scenes excitement happening at the FWJ blogging network. Our bloggers are in the midst of a friendly competition as the blogger(s) with the blog showing the highest growth this month will get a nifty bonus. Other bonuses will also ensue. Please show your support to your favorite bloggers in this network by visiting their blogs and taking part in their discussions. They may be having dinner on you, come July 31st! Please see the top navigation for links to all the blogs or visit the FWJ homepage. Leads…

Thanks for the great list today Deb!
Happy birthday to your husband! I will be celebrating a “big …-oh” birthday day after tomorrow, although I’m in the next decade. (Ugh!) Thanks again for all you do – and for helping me to finally succeed with what I always wanted to do when I grew up!
Thanks for the leads!
Happy Birthday to your husband Deb, it’s my husband’s birthday too! I hope you guys have a fun day
Thanks for the awesome list of leads, this is going to keep me busy all afternoon. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the list — Happy Birthday to your hubby!
The one thing every successful freelance writer needs: a spouse with a good-paying job.
Happy B’day to your husband Deb!!
i hope you have an all time blast….Cheers!!
i am your regular reader and will be celebrating my Birthday on 10th!!
Happy Birthday, Mr. Ng!
Mr Ng thanks all for the birthday wishes!
@Heidi – Actually Mr.Ng is being laid off this month so I’ll be carrying the family for a while. It’s nice to know I can!
Don’t know if anyone else had this experience, but the leads posted on Friday, I think it was–a lot of them were a scam! So many turned out to be from Craigslist from somewhere in Raleigh, North Carolina. (It doesn’t show you that until you apply on them), so be careful. Now I get emails from scammers in North Carolina–they have absolutely nothing to do with writing gigs!
Remember everyone, when it comes to feedback show your appreciation of the fun stuff.
SHOW ME THE FUNNY is what you should chant after you’ve had a good look around everything the community has to offer, Lorna and I aim to please.

@Heidi,
I’m sure your comments were meant in jest, but…
This kind of attitude is, in my opinion, one reason why we’re seeing a drop in rates and an increase in really crappy paying jobs that are “perfect for stay at home moms.” Too many people see writing as something “cute” the husband (more often the wife?) does while their partner goes to a real job and earns most of the money. Also, if a writer needs somebody else to support them, they’re not exactly successful, right?
Last year my husband and I earned roughly the same amount of money (he’s a licensed heavy equipment mechanic). This year I’ll likely earn more. If I couldn’t earn a professional wage writing, I’d have to find something else.
Happy birthday to your man! It really does help to have someone behind you, doesn’t it?
I love, love, love the pirate coffee. That’s just awesome.
Thanks for the leads!
