I would like to submit my photo for the contest as well. My friend Laura told me about this when she saw my painting the other day. The painting was originally done for a CD album cover which was released this summer in Alberta, Canada.

Here is my photo vision…

The set up:
I sat at a tall wobbly table on a tall stool in my favorite croissant cafe. My laptop was placed directly in front of me. On my right was my fifth draft of an essay, highlighter, pen, pencil and post-it notes. I placed my croissant on the other side of my essay and my coffee cup between my laptop and essay.

The action:
As I picked up my croissant and brought it to my mouth, my hand knocked over the reinforced paper cup toward my laptop.

The hot blond liquid rushed freely from the cup, stained my essay then split into two streams: one toward my laptop and the other one headed for me. I dropped my croissant, jumped off the stool knocking it backwards and grabbed my laptop!

The result:
In my soaked white shorts I examined the damage on the table. The coffee dripped over the table edge onto the floor. My now “soaked” croissant landed beside the essay. Words were smeared on the stained essay draft. And the paper cup rolling side to side began to slow down.

It was very quiet in the cafe and I looked up to see every face in the place on me. The blood rushed to my cheeks as I meekly mumbled, “Sorry ’bout that.”

I vowed to stop drinking coffee…for the rest of today.
