Lordy, it was chilly this morning. After spending the past week in Las Vegas, the frost on the pumpkin was a rude awakening. I’m not a cold weather person, but this time of the year is so pretty. Please excuse the brief kumbaya, but I’m feeling especially blessed today. It’s a beautiful day, the world outside my window is alive with color, I’m self sufficient, and I have an amazing support group.
I have a couple of announcements to make this morning and I feel so good about bringing them to you. The first is about me giving back, and the other is about a company giving back to their writers.
- Between now and Thanksgiving, any time someone ReTweets a blog post from FWJ, I’ll donate a nickel to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. I know it’s not a lot, but I’m willing to give up any profit I earn for the next month or so if it means one or two families will receive a hot meal.
- Also, Demand Studios will soon be offering affordable healthcare to its writers. I’ve known about this for a little while and it was all I could do not to announce the news. I hope this will help some of you who have been concerned about finding affordable healthcare.

- ReTweet for Charity: Thanksgiving is Coming, Let’s Feed America

Just a thought…if you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. What are you going to do to make a difference?
Enjoy your day, I’m looking forward to mine. Leads…

Chilly morning in NJ? You were away for the worst of it. Give it another month and I’ll be complaining about the cold too.
I hate winter and after seeing snow last week and mornings that bottomed out at 17 degrees, I am dreading what’s to come! We’re past the point of frost on our pumpkins, they’ll all saggy, wrinkled little things.
Add to the unusual cold snap news that 17 of my daughter’s 7th grade class (78 kids in all) are now out with the flu, possibly H1N1 but test results are pending , and then someone was sent home from my husband’s workplace yesterday with a fever of 103 and a cough. It’s only a matter of time.
I’m seriously considering hibernating all winter. Bears are on to something!
I am sooooo excited about what Demand is doing! This month alone I’ve written more than 50 as I’ve really gotten some good momentum going. We will be losing our insurance in a few months and that is just a relief!

I received a link within seconds of emailing them for a site called MonkeyJar. To apply, you must fill in the application including a box that asks if you would like more information on returning to college. It asks for not only your cell phone, but also the specific carrier of that cell phone, name, mailing address, and secondary cell phone. It wouldn’t accept the application until I’d filled in all of these.
Then I was directed to a screen stating I needed to create an original article based on one of their listed topics. When completed, I have to go to their public forums and post the article in there for everyone to see. Email them the link.
Then you have to sign up for a Monkey Jar domain, set up a “custom mall,” “figure out how much you can make,” and then “invite all your friends to sign up for their custom mall.”
For giggles, I kept going. The mall requires you to choose actual stores like BestBuy, iTunes, Expedia… So I picked the top three – BestBuy, B&N and Expedia and was told I could earn 79 cents the first month and $921 by month 12.
Sounds like a major scam to me.
Thanks for the leads, Deb, and for all the good freelance writing news! It’s rainy and in the low 70s where I live. Beautiful weather for me. I don’t envy you the cold!
Holy Copywriting Leads Batman!
Thanks, Deb! You’ve made the lead searching part of freelancing so much easier everyday!
Thanks for the list.
Doctor/Proofreader? They’ve got to be kidding – do you know any doctors who can spell worth a damn?
Hi !! .!! Happy Thanksgiving! .

Thanksgiving is 1 of my favorite holidays, and every yr I like to get into the mood-extend the holiday, since it were-by reading “Thanksgiving novels.” And in addition, these stories are mostly about friends and family, about coming together to heal old hurts and giving them thanks for the gift of love. .. – –
