There's also the National Association for the Self-Employed, though I don't qualify due to surgery 42 years ago.

This is a huge issue. Our hospitalization just went up 25 percent. My income didn't. And won't. The whole thing about pre-existing conditions is a joke. NASE is one of four majors that won't cover me for the same reason (spinal shunt), though I've had no issues with it for 42 years. Our coverage will cost nearly $10,000 for the next year -- and there is a lot that's not covered and a high deductible.

I could get on my soapbox for days about this issue, but I'd better do something to cover my bills, so I'll sign off.

Health care costs are in a bubble. (As are education costs). This bubble won't break until we're all broke.

great topic. my DH heard that demandstudios offers some kind of insurance - do you anything about that?

btw, we have a family of 4 in MA which requires insurance, and we go through blue cross for a typical HMO. there are no cost breaks for anything - going through the state, being a small business, joining the chamber of commerce. in short, you pay full freight. it is no small issue.
